Smith has Post Concussion Syndrome...

Per the press release from the team:

Quote:
TAMPA BAY – Tampa Bay Lightning goaltender Mike Smith is suffering from post-concussion syndrome but is expected to return to the ice within the next week. The original injury dates back several weeks, although Smith started to be concerned about symptoms after the team’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers on Jan. 30.

I'm not sure that I believe them. Seems a bit strange that he played a couple more games and then decided he was too hur to play ? I wonder who they are shopping him with? LOL just kidding!!

The whole thing seems fishy.

I definitely believe he was/is injured in some way, but PCS..? really?

Considering the last handful of games he played he looked like he was laboring to get off the ice and his side to side movement was looking worse and worse, I can see it. Something for sure wasn't right with him.

Maybe Malik tripped and fell on him in practice

I kinda had a feeling since the last game he played he got shell shocked. There were goal's scored on him that I thought I could stop, something was way off with him. Just for the love of god DO NOT RUSH HIM!!!!!! If the doc says its going to be two weeks for him to get better, sit him for three. The last thing we need is this to become more serious than what it is.

As someone who has more experience with concussions than Eric Lindros I hope they give him more than enough time to heal, the worst thing you can do is to come back from PCS too fast.

Is TB still gunning for a playoff spot? If they aren't, then what's the harm in bringing up other goalies in the system and letting Smith heal?

Well now that we've signed McKenna we have two prospects here in Tampa as it is, play Helenius in the bigs too much and you worry about having to have him clear waivers (like what Lundin is going through now) just to get back to the minors, risking hurting development, getting hurt, getting beat up in Tampa and losing confidence.

McKenna and Ramo should be fine here for now, Ramo needs to get his **** together.

Ok, thanks I wasn't exactly sure what the Goaltender situation was, gives me a little more perspective.

He can't reach his back.

Why do you think the Lightning keep Malik? To help St Louis and Murphy reach the top shelf of their lockers.
