Shorten Composite Sticks

I have a quick question... how do you shorten a composite stick? I'm only about 5'6" so I usually need to take a few inches off the sticks I buy. I've always used wood so that easily gets cut down. Can you cut the 1-piece composites the same way? Thanks for the input!

They wouldn't be much use if you couldn't. Hacksaw works best, but your standard crosscut should work fine.

realize the stick is going to be a higher flex, or stiffer, when you do cut it

mark where you want to cut. grab a hacksaw and cut into each side until you cut through the stick. not really different than cutting a wood stick.

You can also look into buying an intermediate composite stick instead. These tend to be 3" shorter than the senior versions and usually come in 70-80 flex. They also tend to have a smaller shaft radius for smaller hands.

It comes down to personal preference. If you buy an 85 flex stick and cut a couple inches off, it might end up closer to 95-100 flex. 70-80 flex might be too whippy for some.

As for the process of cutting it, you can use the same method. My local shop will usually do it for free.
