Could this be possible? (habs-isles)

Would a trade with the Islanders involving Chris Higgins for Trent Hunter be possible?

Hunter brings size on the first two lines. He doesn't make a lot of money, signed long-term. And i'm sure the Isles would like to have Higgins, maybe overpay for him.

Are you saying that giving Hunter for Higgins is overpaying?

Well I think Hunter is worth more than Higgins. And he's an important player for their club, more than Higgins is important for us.

I'm not sure if you're undervaluing Chris Higgins or overvaluing Trent Hunter, but I think you have the value of the trade a little off.

The Islanders would jump at the opportunity to acquire Chris Higgins for Trent Hunter. I think Hunter would be a good addition to Montreal, but Chris Higgins is a pretty big overpayment to get him.

Can he play at the point? I know he's a right shooter, does he play right wing?

I thought about this as far as small fixes, tweeks that could help us in the playoffs. I was looking at the way Lamoriello does things. The guy doesn't do the big trades. He just add a player there, another player there and in the end it makes his team stronger. Getting Hunter may be not the trade to get a big top star player but it makes us better.

He plays right wing. Not sure about him having a good shot, though! He's not a miracle worker!

For the point shooter we would need to the big shot of Sourey.

How good is T. Hhunter compared to T. Kostopulos, and how much is the skill discrepancy between he and Higgins offensively?

You pretty much answered your own question as far as being in the middle of those two players. I think Hunter has the potential to be even better than he's been, given that he's not playing in a winning environment. From our point-of-view i'm looking at his size and what that could add to our team. Somebody with size that can play on our first two lines.

Any trade with the Islanders should include Mark Streit.

Would you like to acquire Mike Cammalleri this offseason?

Title says it all, how favorable are you to that proposition?

Discuss.

-----------------------

I'd like to give him a try. He's probably going to want get a HUGE raise and sign longterm, but this is a center who plays at near PPG rate and would be our #1. He's not THE big body we want, but he's fairly talented and like I said... possibilities are slim but he'd be a great acquisition taking in consideration our lack of center depth.

Beats having Koivu and Pleks as our top two centers.

YES.

BTW Cammalleri is not really a center.

Sure why not. Doesn't solve our size problem, though.

Yes. We could have the all WOP line: Cammalleri-Pacioretty-D'Agostini. Be aware of your knees would be the motto.

I bet they would ! It would mean being able to sign Komisarek on July 1st.

Offer him Kovalev money + a bit of Lang money... maybe 5-6M? Wouldn't mind see him here for 5-6 years.

I'd take him if we can get rid of Pleks, let Kovy go and sign Koivu and Tanger to hometown discounts. I don't think he is worth 5 million plus though.

He's not but you know the whole "Montreal has to overpay UFA's" criteria has to be met...

Cammy is one of my favorite players and I've been saying we should get him for at least 3 years now. He is small but plays bigger than anyone on our team.
