Dustin Brown

What would it take to get Brown out of LA? This is largely theoretical, because I know in all likelihood he's not going anywhere, and that his importance to the Kings will drive his trade value higher than it would be otherwise.

Would a deal centred around Heatley for Brown + Teubert be anywhere close (I know it would take some tweaking).

If not, what would it take from Ottawa to get Brown, assuming anyone not named Spezza, Alfredsson and Volchenkov are available.

Brown won't be traded because he's the heart and soul of what LA is trying to build.

If I had the chance, I'd trade Heatley straight up for D. Brown. This guy is amazing, he's in the Shane Doan, Brendan Morrow mold. Hits, scores, leads, does it all, and he's on an unbelieveable contract. I wouldn't even be surprised if Kings fans wouldn't trade him straight up for Heatley. He's one of the youngest captains in the league, and he is only getting better. Heatley is in the right place at the right time, and he has a wicked release. D. Brown does everything else, and then some. Exactly what Ottawa has needed for 10 years.

I would do just about anything to get Brown in a Bruins sweater, although now isnt exactly the time to be making these kinds of trades.

Kessel for Brown anybody?

i kid, i kid, i kid... i dont think anybody would be happy with that trade

Untouchable, 24 year old captain on a loooong term affordable contract! Don't ask for Kopitar or Doughty either.

As a Kings fan, I wouldn't trade Brown straight up for Heatley.

Brown is signed for the next six years at a CAP hit of 3.1M per year.

Brown wants to be in LA. The Kings want him in LA.

It would take severe overpayment to get Lombardi to even pick up the phone. Not many teams have a player as good as Brown with such a reasonable contract for such a long period of time. Plenty of players that are better talent-wise, just none that provide the same overall value.

I dunno, but to me he looks more important to the Kings than Kopitar.

Brown won't be traded. He is the type of player that you can never replace.

Not many captains can lead you to a 2nd overall pick. That's not to devalue Brown but to get King fans off their perch, at least temporarily.

When you factor in, A.) How good of a player he is B.) His cheap, long contract C.) His leadership & D.) Everything he brings to the table that doesn't show up on the stat sheet, he's a top-10 player, value wise. There are only a few select players I could see LA even considering trading Brown for 1-for-1.

lol @ you. What perch are you referring to? Is it only Kings fans here talking positively about Brown?

And Brown wasn't named captain until this season. People who were tagged with letters last season were Blake, Visnovsky, and Thornton.

What is up with you and all the Kings hate...

Get your facts straight Rob Blake was the captain who let the Kings to the 2nd overall pick not Brown.

Brown is a Captain that any team would love to have...Plays hockey like fans wish there players would.

Mats Sundin who has 14 years more experience than Brown has led the leafs into the basement the past few years, and whats he doing in Van now? not much...

L.A will come around and eventually be a force; and Brown will be a major part of that.

Exactly.

Brown was named captain this season.

Brown out of LA would require a massive overpayment. I wouldnt trade him for Heatley, simply cause I think Brown has more value (intangible value, not "skill") than Heatley.

As someone else said, it would be nearly impossible to do a 1 for 1 trade, unless we're talking something like a Malkin or Ovechkin, which of course will never happen. And I dont think the Kings would take a package of 2 or 3 "lesser" players for Brown.

Why do you keep touting incorrect anti Kings facts? It's starting to look bad.

I think everyone would love to have Dustin Brown and his great contract. That said, people get carried away when they rank him.

People act like he's a top 50 player in the league and he's not. He may throw his body around and everything, but he's still a career minus-48 and has never had a plus year. He's becoming a very good scorer, but still not in the upper tier. And like Hipho said, he's been the captain of some really bad teams.

So yeah, don't get me wrong I do think he's a phemomenal player, but he is overrated a tad. No way is he enough for Heatley alone. And people act like he has the best contract but that goes to Hemsky and Roy.

Ok, I'm off my perch..

I'm back on it again.

Your point? He can't and won't be traded. He's what Deano would call a "center piece" of his team mold.

Trading him would signal a failure on DL's part, which is completely against any logic of his plans up to this point.

Your comment is like saying Detroit shouldn't be happy they got Zetterburg at(I haven't looked it up yet) what, 78th or something like that? Who cares.

Yep, you pretty much nailed it.

Any team would be as lucky as the kings to have a guy like Brownie on their team.
