Where did the collapse start?

What specific point would you say the slide this season began? I would have to say it all started the game the Capitals came back in the 5-4 OTL. Since then it has been very mediocre at best.

.

I would point to the Buffalo game back in November.

That was the turning point in my opinion. They never seemed to get back to that October groove after that Buffalo game.

Very shallow team (mentally) to get shattered like that after just one game.

Mid-November was when I really started to sense trouble.
They seemed like they greatly lacked confidence and mental toughness, and the fact that no one on the team could score was starting to become really apparent.

Somebody posted a stat that after the Toronto game where they gave up 5 goals in 5 minutes they've been about 500. I thought that was pretty interesting.

From game 1 I was uncomftorable watching this team play. So I would have to say back in october. They had some gem's every so often, but point still stands.

Better question is...why has there not been any changes yet??

Because lots of tickets are still being sold.
If you want to send a message, stop buying ****ing tickets to the games.

I believe it started when we let jagr walk, then spent 11 million on two offensive defenseman to play in a defensive system...

I think a lot of Rangers, Penguins and Canadiens fans have lost their minds with some of these threads. Remember the Flyers lost 10 games in a row after the all star break last year and went on to the ECFs.

I'm reading a LOT of "They SUCK" and "I ****ing hate this team" and "I'm ****ing done with this team and I'm not watching anymore!!!"

Definitely sometime in November. The 3-1 loss to the Capitals where the Rangers struggled to score and were outmuscled was really an indicator of what was to come. They played like crap that month but were still managing to win in the shootout.

The 6-3 loss to the Canucks also stands out in my mind. Absolutely horrible defensive play, a shorthanded goal, tons of breakaways.

The Toronto game where we allowed 5 goals in 5 minutes in the 3rd period was one of the turning points.

we by no means have the potential with this team to do what the Flyers did. What game are u watching. Avery will hopefully put us closer, but we need help. Mainly we need to trade or lose some overpaid jerks on our team.

first post here so I just want to say hello to everyone. I've been a Rangers fan for 36years now.

as far as when the collapse started? well, in my opinion this team had it coming from the very start of the season. during those winning streaks in the beginning this team was lucky because they weren't playing great hockey. they were playing only one period of hockey and beating mediocre teams by one goal. if you remember a lot of those wins came when the Rangers were behind and they finally started playing in the 3rd period. this team also had the advantage of playing weaker teams in the beginning of the season and they also played more games. now every team has played the same amount of games and the Rangers are playing against better teams so the true quality of this team is now showing. they would be lucky to get the 8th seed playing the way they are now. it's sad how this organization won't make the right moves. others teams by this point would have done something. but hey, this is the Rangers....

for now they are. we were in the division lead and now the devils have it and their tail lights are getting further and further away with other teams catching up to us as well. at this rate the pens might pass us.

i think this all started at the end of october to be honest. it was the game before the leafs thrashing up in toronto. they were playing at home against atlanta and looked very flat before taking the lead in the third on a couple of powerplay goals. thats when the flat play started in my eyes

Hardly a collapse? What games have you been watching? A 5 game losing streak, where in one of them we lose 10-2 and you're saying it's hardly a collapse?

We're also 4 points (2 losses) out of 9th place.

Teams playing like ****, but a collapse? Too soon to call it a collapse. PLENTY of time left to right the ship.
