I can't believe it's been 10 years since Episode 1 and The Matrix were in threaters. That kid must be 15 now, anyone have a recent pick of him?

Wait...the bullpen sucks--so the pitchers in the bullpen suck. You absolve the guy in charge of the pitchers but blame Wedge? What is Wedge supposed to do, yell at the relief pitchers and tell them to pitch better?

It's not Wedge's fault (or the pitching coach's) fault that the bullpen sucks. The guy who puts the roster together should probably receive just a bit of the blame here. Betancourt had a low BABIP (.246, career average .301) and an 86.4% strand rate (completely unsustainable). Same thing with Rafael Perez. I'm kind of surprised that Shapiro didn't plan for some regression from both of them, considering the Tribe front office is a bit more Sabremetrically inclined than the average front office.
Kerry Wood will be fine. Getting the ball to him will be the problem.

Just curious dru--how would you manage the pitching staff differently?

I might try moving Kerry Wood into a set-up role. They brought him in to be the closer but they are blowing leads right now and he's only got 5 saves. You have to find a way to get your better pitchers in games where you have the lead. He could at least help hold down the fort for a while until you can call somebody up from Columbus. That's just one thought.

Managing a pitching staff is about scouting the other teams batters well and matching up against them. I don't think Wedge is very good at that and with the way Cleveland is playing the bullpen should automatically start warming up in the 5th. Use all the pitchers you can and win games by committee.. I'm not a MLB manager and don't claim to be, I just think that Cleveland needs a major shake-up if it wants to do anything this season. Time is running out on them already. Firing the manager would most certainly shake things up.

I assume he doesn't get paid for those 50 games, right? Inconsequential... I know, just curious.

Nothing shocks me in the MLB anymore.

Just when the Dodgers looked to be the best team in the league. I think they will still win the division.

Baseball is just rampant with cheaters. Makes me wonder how many guys start taking drugs in the NHL once the playoffs start. Funny how they just stop drug testing in the post-season isn't it?

Its in all sports...im sure. If they wanted to...they could bust every player that does it...with better more frequent tests. But hey...do the owners really want it out of their sport? Nope.

Boston has scored 12 runs in the bottom of the sixth and STILL no outs yet!

We trail 13-2.

This is pathetic. Can't even get a freaking out.

Happy to say my undergraduate school UC Irvine just defeated USC in the Men's Volleyball National Title game. It is the second title in three years. GO ANTEATERS! ZOT!

The Redlegs completed a sweep of the Diamondbacks tonight.

More importantly, they are tied for the lied in the Central now.

In times of economic crisis, I know one way the Cleveland Indians can save money: quit paying its relievers until they actually start pitching well and not sucking. A 7-0 lead is now 7-6 and one swing of the bat could erase that lead totally!

Dusty Baker's pitching decisions suck, too. You should have pulled your starter for a pinch hitter prior to the bottom of the 7th, and then you bring in a reliever for an intentional walk?

Fulham is on the verge of Europe. All they need is a win or draw next week vs. Everton in the Cottage or for Spurs to lose or draw vs. Liverpool and they're in the Europa League.

Hard to believe considering where they were at this time last season.
