3/9 GDT: Kings vs. Phoenix

I've never started a GDT before for the Kings, so I wanted to. I don't have the resources for everything Lucky does, not have I had the time, I'm sure people can see I've been on the trade board all day.

Anson Carter will play tonight, and hopefully can help the Kings take advantage of the Coyotes being in rebuild mode. Not sure if Morris made it to LA to get in the lineup...I hope not

Kings 4 (Carter, Straka, Lappy and Norstrom <--will keep predicting it until it happens)
Coyotes 1 (Doan)

Miller and Holland were activated. Phoenix traded several members of their team away today.
I doubt Cowan will make it tonight. We need to win both of these games!

Carter gets a loud cheer when he first steps on the ice.

Kings score, 1-0.

Derek Armstrong 12 (Tim Gleason)

How's Gleason doing for you guys? One of my favorite prospects. 41 games and counting without a goal though.. Doesn't look good.

He made a great pass off the boards, although it was more lucky than anything. He was just looking to clear off the boards but somehow the puck got to Derek Armstrong which led to a breakaway goal.

Gleason has been awesome since his latest call-up. Steady, very poised and patient. He's starting to join the rush more and isn't afraid to hit. I really like him here.

Love Gleason. He started out with the team this year, and played pretty well. He was sent down once Miller got off of IR and I really think it hurt his confidence. In Manchester he didn't exactly "tear it up" like I would have hoped. After some more injuries he was called up again, but really struggled to find his game. Again, I think it was more his confidence.

Lately he has really turned it on(last five, six games or so). He has been one of our most physical defensemen, jumped into the play at he right times and created some great chances. He has a good shot, but no joy on the goalscoring front yet. That will come with time as that is more of his natural game. In the future he will see some PP time, but AM likes to ease rookies in.

Quite honestly he reminds me of a young Rob Blake. I don't know if he will ever get to that elite level, it's a pretty tall order, but he does have the tools.

I have to say that IF we can't come back to win this game that we truly have no business in the playoffs at all.

My reasoning is this, we are playing a team that has just lost a few of its top forwards and swapped young defencemen. Morris has yet to learn the system. They are playing a new goalie who has been solid for them, but has struggled the rest of the time. We are getting back one of our top two defencemen and have added a top six forward into the mix. They are certain they won't make the playoffs, we are battling for our lives to be in them.

If this is the best we can do then what would we do against teams fighting to win the cup? I am usually not a fatalist but we had a two goal lead and while I don't think that if we were to lose or tie this game that it would be our end, I do reckon that we have no business to go to the dance if we can't beat these types of teams. Rubbish.

Dempsey is shaken up. I think he got hit by Derek Morris' shot. He was bent over. I don't know if he's back out there or not.

Dempsey is back out there.

Andy Murray calls a time-out. Hopefully this sparks the team.
