Vancouver/Anaheim

Just wanted to get Ducks fans' opinion on this...

To ANA:
Mid-Round Pick/Future Considerations

To VAN:
Brendan Morrison

I understand Morrison has been a bust in Anaheim and he is a pending UFA. The Canucks, IMO with the recent success of Kesler playing with Sundin and Demitra, should now be looking for another center. Kyle Wellwood is not an Alain Vigneault type player his style isn't particular suited for the bottom six. Morrison is a capable penalty killer with good defensive awareness who knows Vancouver's system, works hard and could play decent bottom six minutes without hurting the team.

Ducks fans, what in your view would be a fair deal?

He's on a 1-year contract at $2.5 mil/season, expires end of this year. The Canucks have plenty of cap space at the deadline to allow for a move like this.

To be honest, I'd rather have Scotty McAwesomeyer.

Not really. This deal doesn't make a ton of sense to me.

He's not specifically a necessity, but I agree with Mr. Canucklehead in that he'd be a very good fit in the third centre role here in Vancouver, and should come fairly cheap.

The Canucks four centers at this moment are Henrik Sedin-Mats Sundin-Kyle Wellwood-Ryan Johnson. Wellwood is in and out of the lineup as he is perennially in AV's doghouse and isn't really suited to a third line role anyway(he's a scorer or nothing, really). The Canucks need a guy who can center the 3rd line, be defensively responsible, chip in some offense here and there and be a decent PKer. Morrison fits that bill, and he would also(I believe) come relatively cheap due to his struggles in Anaheim. Ideally, the Canucks would go for a guy like Peca but he would A) Cost more, and B) Probably not be available from C-Bus.

The Canucks should look at a 3rd line center with Kesler playing with Sundin and Demitra. Morrison wouldn't be number one on my list, but he wouldn't hurt.

I would rather have Rob Niedermayer, or Todd Marchant if we are doing a deal with the Ducks.

Morrison for a 3rd or 4th or 5th seems fair enough to me.

I'd take Morrison back for a 4th or 5th round pick. He'd be a decent fit in a 3rd line role and knows the system and was well liked in the dressing room.

agreed... he's also been one of the canucks better playoff performers over the years... I'd have no problems seeing Mo back centering the 3rd line heading into the playoffs.

I'll go with the majority here and say Yes from Vancouver's POV. Morrison isn't a guy I would like to rely on for secondary scoring but he's more than capable playing in a 3rd line role chipping in the odd goal and killing penalties. His past playoff performances make this a pretty easy choice for me. Morrison also would probably be pretty excited to get at least another chance at the playoffs with his hometown team.

To VAN:
B. Morrison

To ANA:
4th Round Pick 09

I'd rather see Ebbett as our second line center, so...please take him!

What do Ducks fans want for a Niedermayer+Morrison package?

Hodgson is untouchable in terms of prospects but we have picks and...Mason Raymond...

Getting Mo back for the third line would be a solid move.

I'd love to add Morrison especially if all it cost was a 4th round draft pick.

He'd be a great fit on the 3rd line with Burrows and Bernier/Pyatt.

The only question I'd have is whether or not Gillis would want to bring Morrison back into the locker room.

One of the biggest things that they talked about all year long was how the leadership in the room has changed this year and Morrison was a name that was often used as part of that leadership change.

With that being said Morrison isn't the type of guy that would cause any problems in the locker room so personally I'd be all for that deal.

I still do believe that Morrison is more than capable of being a solid 3rd line center for us.

I'd have no problem giving up Bieksa, Raymond and a 1st for Pronger and Morrison.

As far as Neidermeyer goes I'd only make that move if he was willing to sign at least for another year.

Either way I just don't see Anaheim trading either Pronger or Neidermeyer. It just doesn't make sense for a team that currently holds a playoff spot to trade away a huge peice like Neidermeyer.

Sure things don't look too great right now but there are peices there that can make a run come playoff time.
