Mike Green - Which would be more impressive?

In the Capitals next game, Mike Green could set the record for consecutive games with a goal by a defenseman (8 games if he gets it).

Also, with his 6th straight multi-point game last night he joined only Bobby Orr, Paul Coffey and Ray Bourque as the only 4 d-men in NHL history to accomplish this.

so i am asking the HFBoards nation....which is more impressive?

What's the record for multi-point games by a defenseman?

Both are equally impressive in my opinion. Too bad he got injured earlier this season. If he kept up this pace he may have hit 40 goals.

And? Isn't everything on the internet taken from somewhere?

You posed an interesting point, and I wanted to see what the opinions of outsiders (non-caps fans). don't cry, it'll be ok!

How long are Orr's, Coffey's and Bourque's multi-point streaks?

If Green is far behind those three in the multi-point streak length, I don't think him just being "in their company" is as impressive as holding a record by yourself, especially a goal streak record for a defenseman.

But, if he's close to those guys, like close enough to break it this season with good chance, I think that's really impressive too, and it could make the choice harder for me.

It matters that much to you? You better look into copyrighting your posts from now on, then...

yea i definitely agree with that, i was kind of hoping some of the amazing HFBoard members, who aren't at work, could do a little digging around to find out those players multi-point streaks...anybody?

I guess the games streak with a goal.....just stunned its still in single digits after all the great D-men that have played the game.

Just have him score 1 goal and get two assists to keep both going.

sigh....

Caps gave up 4 ES goals last night, Green was +3 in 28+ minutes which included 4+ minutes on the PK.

It took 12 posts to get the obligatory "Green doesn't play defense" post. Things are coming around!

The multi-point streak is, I think, more impressive. Guys can have lucky bounces go in for goals, but a string of multi-point efforts shows that a guy is playing at the top of his game.

You know, I generally try to explain my point of view as clearly as I can to people who disagree with me for the sake of fostering an interesting conversation... but dude, that comment isn't even worth the effort. If you can't see how impressive Green's current run is you are either a complete troll or have no hockey sense to speak off.

He isn't an ace defensively, sure, but he's not a liability in his zone anymore either, and considering how much he is adding to the Caps right now in terms of offense it is bat**** insane to claim he would be anything other than a great, great asset to any team.

It'll throw my hat in for the goal streak. Not only has he been scoring, but he's been scoring at convenient times and on beautiful shots. It's some gorgeous hockey, no doubt.

What is more impressive is the fact they got him 29th overall.

On the flipside, what's depressing is he was drafted after Schultz.

I think Mike Green not only should be a candidate for the Norris, but also for the Hart if he keeps this up

I don't think Schultz is really that bad, though. He's certainly more of an asset than Morrisonn, who shouldn't even be on a beer league roster right about now.

Great D-man. If he was playing in Canada there would be thread after thread touting his greatness.
