Perreault - 1rst line

Perreault played 2 great games in the west and I dont see why break that line now...I tought like most of us that kovalev should go on the first line but for now maybe on the Ribeiro's line ( but then again Dagenais scored... ) and then eventually on the first line.

Im happy not being coach...your toughts?

And by the way there is no way Kovalev dont play thursday versus Panthers cause im going to the game!!

Like you, i would like to keep perreault on the first line and put AK-27 with Ribeiro and ryder. This line produced, so this no reason to move Perreault.

Great?

He looked decent, but anybody playing with Koivu and Zednik on fire will look good!

In the last game he looked really bad by the way!

I still think Kovalev is meant to be on the first line with Koivu and Zed. I see your point though but don't think perreault brings anything to the first line . he just happened to be there when his line's teamates are on fire. I would move perreault on the 2nd line and see how it goes.

CJ is very fast about his line anyway. if he sees it doesn't work, he'll do what it takes.

i would do anything for "somebody" to replace dags in our line-up, even if it meant putting ak-27 on the second line.

but unlike you guyz i dont want to alienate our new star(kovalev), and our #1 center(koivu)

CJ will go the safe route i think and place kovalev on the 1st line, and put Yanic on the 2nd line(which is a minor upgrade over dags)

i would not dress dags becuase our 3rd and 4th lines are role player lines.

I don't see the major upgrade.. Even though Dags doesn't have much grit, the mere fact that he's big makes him that much tougher to push around in the corners and his size makes him more effecitve than Perreault when it comes ot protecting the puck. Perreault can be a good sniper if he has a playmaker like Koivu on his line but he's inconsistent and we all know he's small and soft. Dagenais is on pace for about 20 goals this season, skates probbly as badly as Perreault but like I said has that size advantage. Defensively, they're both bad but Perreault can win face offs. I think Dagenais is better right now but i really don;'t know who to pick out of the 2 cause facoffs can be so important and Perreault can heat up from time to time.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but CJ played those lines against the Yotes:
Zed-Saks-Kovy
Perreault-Ribs-Ryder
and Dags was on the third.
Why change?

becuase bulis will be back, and then the lineup will go though another transition.

i dont think he will theres only 2 possiblities with bulis:

bulis ribs ryder or
bulis dowd sundstrom
langdon begin ward

thats how i picture the most likely line up

juneau and dackell's role will be limited you can count on that.
*once healthy of coarse

I like that...good three lines.
I also believe that Yannic is too soft to be put on a line with Ribs, on Saks line his soft play was over shadowed.

Once Bulis is back (Saturday ), I'd like to see:

Zednik - Koivu - Kovalev
Bulis - Ribeiro - Ryder
Perreault* - Dowd - Dackell**
Langdon - Begin - Ward

** To be replaced by Sundstrom upon his return
* I can't see CJ sitting Perreault.

I'd prefer to see a third line of:
Begin - Dowd - Sundstrom or
Dowd - Begin - Sundstrom (whichever would fit best on the wing)

and stick Perreault to limited 4th line duty, perhaps alternating with Juneau

I agree. That's why I suggested it'd be nice to see Begin Dowd Sundstrom on the 3rd line with Perreault seeing limited 4th line duty.
BUT...does anybody think CJ will try this??

im hoping he does
but i have a feeling he'll put juneau in there somewhere.

there is one thing that would really help our team with a quik fix; if somebody can step up from hamilton and become a pleasent surprise, there still is a month and somebody can be impressive enough to get called up. hossa ? though im not holding my breath.

but regardless CJ will stick to a line system that works
1 st line scoring
2 nd line scoring
3 rd line checking (other teams top lines)
4 th line physical/agitating/checking

this is why that 2nd line LW hole woulda been nice to fill.

What makes me very pleased about this whole situation (where to put Perrault) is to see how much depth we have.. we can try so many options if the need be.. and if players go down (like Bulis, Sundstrom) we have players there to pick up the slack for them while they recover.. plus it would make players more competitive so they can stay in the line-up, pushing them to perform better on the ice..

Perhaps come playoff time, when the Langdon's of the league aren't so necessary, he'll try put Joe on the 4th line with Perreault and Ward?
But I'd prefer to keep Langdon on there for size and toughness. I have a feeling we'll be meeting Philly in round 1 (gulp) and will need it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Langdon doesn't take many stupid penalties does he? Because that's what you need to avoid!

its going to be extreamly intresting how CJ handles the lines. i also think were going to play philly.(should be very tough but we do have a chance against them)

CJ is a smart coach he'll make the right moves

Some Key points: From my perspective that is...

11 GAMES LEFT !!!

1. Dowd and Begin should be given a permanent position on the third line.
2. Kovalev should be on first line.
3. They should try Perrault on second line
4. They should play Garon a little more before the playoffs, a well rested Theodore is better then holding 7th seed. In my opinion whether we play 1st or 2nd in our division doesn't really matter.

1. I agree 100% (or in hockey terms 110%)
2. see #1.
3. I disagree 110%. Perreault is no longer effective on a scoring line. In fact I'm not sure he ever was. Sure he was amazing in the free wheeling QMJHL, but has he ever really been productive offensively - NO! 56 pts. with the Habs 2 years ago was his best offensive season. To me that's truly offensive and he doesn't deserve to be on a scoring line. 4th line taking the odd important faceoff (like he should have been doing in '02 instead of Lindsay )
4. There's 3 back to back games remaining, so I imagine Garon will play at least 3 more games. March 19th/20th home and home against NJ! Very important games. Garon will play the first of those.
March 24th/25th at Buffalo/home vs. Sens. Garon should play one of these.
March 31st/April 1st at NYI/home vs. Philly. Garon vs. Isles.
Depending on the status of the standings, he may also play the final game on the 3rd against the Sabres...
So, yes, he'll play 3 or 4 of the final 11 games IMO.
