Draft 2009: Prospects on TV this weekend

FRIDAY (Canal Vox)
MONTREAL VS QUEBEC (QMJHL)

MONTREAL
#4 - Alex Wall - D (#161CSS, should be much higher than that and will be)
#28 - Pier-Antoine Dion - C (#192 CSS)

QUEBEC
#18 - Jonathan Audy-Marchessault - RW
#23 - Sébastien Trudeau - RW
#26 - Frédérick Roy - C (If you want a nutcase AND if you think getting him will make his father come here....)
#52- Mikael Tam - D (#204 CSS)
#61 - David Gilbert - C (#78 CSS, Only 9 goals for Gilbert....though still the most interested prospect for the upcoming draft)

So in this game it's really coming down to Alex Wall in the mid-rounds and David Gilbert for the 2nd or 3rd round.

SUNDAY (Sportsnet Ontario at 3:00PM)
OSHAWA VS BRAMPTON (OHL)

Brampton
#9 - Matt Duchene-C (#2 CSS)
#5 - Matt Clark-D (#58 CSS)
#3 - Kyle Pereira-D (not ranked yet)

Oshawa
#24 - Calvin De Haan-D (#38 CSS)
#15 - Andy Andreoff-C (#201 CSS)

SUNDAY (All Sportsnets at 7:00PM)
LONDON VS KITCHENER (OHL)

LONDON
#61 - John Tavares-C (#1 CSS)
#71 - Phil Varone-C (#90 CSS)
#91 - Nazem Kadri-C (#11 CSS)
#92 - Daniel Erlich-RW

KITCHENER
#15 - RW – Tyler Randall (#95 CSS)
#6 - D – Christian Stevens (not rated yet)
#61 - D – Simon Gronvaldt (#103 CSS)

NHL NETWORK has some NCAA games but nothing that concerns Habs prospects or potential 2009 draftees.

Moncton at rimouski friday at 7:30pm

we all know by now about the rimouski guys but here some of the moncton guy

52 Jodoin, Simon D * 1990-11-20 6'00" 170 G Otterburn Park, QC NR
58 Savard, David D 1990-10-22 6'01" 201 D St-Hyacinthe, QC no 164th CSS
71 Brown, Matt AG 1991-02-24 5'11" 190 G Truro, NS NR
91 MacAusland, Devon C 1991-05-23 5'07" 152 G Moncton, NB NR

Also look out for no3 Brandon Gormley (16yo) d-man who should be a top 5 pick in the 2010 draft

also, Nicola Riopel who's been nothing short of amazing this year (how the heck do we end up signing mayer over this guy )

I hope I'll be able to see those guys on TV, just better reception than on the Web but I'M eager to see both Jodoin and Savard.

As far as Riopel is concerned, as great as I love to bash the drafting and the organizaition as far as kids are concerned, solely based on the dev. camp, (though they should've went further than that), I would've done the same. And this coming from a guy who had Mayer as a NO DRAFT last year (you can ask WTK to know how much I didn't want him). But curiously enough, while he did have his occasionnal bad moments at the camp, don't ask me why, but Mayer looked really superior to Riopel, at one point you had the impression that one was AHL ready while the other one looked like a Q rookie....The gap was there....as surprising as it is. And clearly you could see that Melanson was talking a lot of his time to talk to Mayer while Riopel did not get the same kinda of look....

There has to be an explanation 'cause what Mayer is showing, again, is his incredible inconsistency (reason why I didn't want him in the draft) while Riopel is a model of consistency. Though we are talking about 2 different teams here....

So if I were the Habs (though now teams will be in line...) I would obviously reinvite Riopel. With Denis probably gone, Missiaen still in Juniors, you still have Desjardins, Lacasse and Meyer as the goalies in the org....having 1 more shouldn't hurt.

Some good games Sunday, London should crush Kitchener tho. I'll try to catch both game, I havent seen enough of Duschene this year. Calvin De Haaan of Oshawa is really good, I've seen him twice and he impressed me alot. He was better then Del Zotto in both games ive seen.

Bump.

For whoever wants to see some hockey tonight at 7:00PM. I missed the earlier game but record it and we'll give my report on the draft thread later on this week.

Fredrick Roy is elligible for next draft? I thought he was due to NHL entry draft 2010.

Alos Gatineau is Playing Montreal on Ckac... it doesn't help that much but you can hear what perron thinks of them
