Umberger

Guys, Habs fan here!

R.J. Umberger has just killed us last year in playoffs. But, when I look at his stats, he seems to very strugglingthis year. I thought he would score more with is 10 goals in playoffs.

So, how does he play? Do you think he's gonna stay on the 2nd line or is he a 3rd liner?

I'm not saying he doesn't play hard always, but he seems to have these games where he just decides he wants to take and control.

Aside from Nash, I think he has the most multi goal games this season for the Jackets.

He's the very definition of a second line forward.

Yeah, he's streaky and he's not the piece Howson hoped he could be (a top-six center who can make plays). Still, he's chipping in enough to not be considered a disappointment, and he seems like a good guy. Hopefully, he'll be a playoff performer for us as well.

2nd leading scorer on the team and you're referring to him as almost a disappointment?

I'll admit he hasn't played his best as of late, but he is a good addition of depth to a team that sorely lack(ed) it.

He has scored more as of today, this year than he did all of last year in Philly, so I think he is doing just fine.

I'm not disappointed in his play, or in the fact that he scores goals. I'm disappointed that he hasn't shown any signs of being a playmaking center, which is what many here projected/hoped he would be, based on his 07/08 season. And that's not something I would blame him for. (For the record, my hopes were always very low for Umberger, which is why I'm not disappointed in his play, either, despite his streakiness.)

Basically, it's like finding you've bought a tablecloth to be a tablecloth, only it doesn't fit the table; so, you have to use it as a cape when you go out to fight crime. Sure would have been nice to have that tablecloth, but it's not the tablecloth's fault.

Maybe not the best analogy....

RJ Appreciation Bump..

Thank you Howson for bringing RJ here. He among others is responsible for turning this club around. On our MVP Ballot, one of only three players to play in every game so far this year. Absolutly a missing piece from our franchise. Umberger does the intangibles, PP contributer, PK, has been clutch for us in overtime, and a leader to our rookies..Now Umberger, it's time for you to take over like last year in the playoffs. This is your time to shine since we don't have much experience. It's time for everyone to take it to another level to make this run last. Let's go jackets!

Maybe RJ hasn't been the center we were hoping for, but I don't think any Blue Jackets fan is disappointed with RJ or his play. I'm really glad he's here, and I hope he with us for a long time.

Struggling? Hardly. We tried the center experiment and it didn't fly. No big deal.

Bolded is grossly inaccurate. Huselius, Commodore, Torres, Peca, and Vermette all say hello.

Whoever thinks RJ isn't what we wanted or is in a slump has no idea what they're talking about. Feel free to watch a game, read some stats or pull your head out of...

5 guys is a lot of playoff experience in your opinion? Thats nothing, I'm going to guarantee we have less playoff games than any other team in contention for the playoffs. (Adding the players totals together)

Nice work, but I'd give 2 playoff games on principle to the Hawks for the trifecta of Kane/Toews/Versteeg.

Yes, if having a career year is struggling, he is doing that...Malholtra as well, same with Nash...might as well put Chimeara on that list (pre-injury of course), oh yeah, Tyutin too...those are just the guys off the top of my head who are struggling like RJ...
