Is he playing center for the Marlies? I thought he was playing wing there with Stapelton as the center. Still, I would like to see him given real top 6 minutes, be it with Stajan, or with Grabo and Kulemin, or even Moore and Blake, it would be nice to see.

I hope the Leafs don't put their 1st rounder in the lineup right away unless it's Tavares or Hedman.

What makes you think he is ready to play on the top line? He hasn't showed anything at the NHL level this year in his time up. I say keep him in the AHL for the rest of the year and use him as an injury call up only.

kulemin and tlusty should be brought upslowly... tlusty especially wouldnt be hurt by another year in the A. i find a lot of good teams, detroit for example, really make their younger guys earn their spots. tlusty is 20 and people write him off. ridiculous.

The only way he should be in the NHL next season is if he plays regular top 6 minutes. If he's not getting those minutes, have him continue to play in the AHL.

His skills are better showcased on a scoring line, so if he's going to play with the Leafs next season, why not have him on that line?

You have to be better than someone on the big team, therefore in Detroit it is harder to be better.

Toronto? Not so much.

True, but only if he's ready. I just don't like the idea of having a 21 year old on the top line when he hasn't shown he's ready for it. I'd rather have a veteran or a free agent signing on the first line instead of Tlusty.

zeke's stats always rule

I believe Tlusty will develop into a NHL'er who scores 25G 30A, which isn't too shabby at all.

that's good news... hopefully he stays down there for the rest of the season, let him get used to this type of success and learn from it.. then apply it to the nhl...

I think we have a legit 1st liner here in Tlusty.

Kuly should develop into a solid 25gl/60pt guy, though.

Ideally, we'd have Williams up in Stempniak's spot right now, with Stempniak dumped.

And then, when Antropov is traded, we bring up Tlusty and plop him up on the Stajan line in his spot, and then send Jiri back down for the AHL playoffs.

Tlusty plays too much of a perimeter game, and once he gets over that he'll be a keeper. He can control the puck really well, has decent speed and hockey sense.

I'm with you. I'd like to see them stay on the farm just for the sole purpose of insulating them from all the losing of the next 2-3 years. Let them play in the A, polish their games, and then bring them up once the cupboard is stocked and the team is ready to challenge.

Tlusty seems to have a really good attitude right now.

Quote:
"As a line they do the little things very well, the details of the game are done very well and they read well off of each other," said Toronto coach Greg Gilbert. "It's not just helter-skelter out there, they're all doing their jobs and responsibilities, but they're also doing things offensively when they do create those turnovers and get those chances.

"There's real good chemistry with those three and hopefully that will continue."

Tlusty echoed Gilbert's sentiment.

"It's clicking right now and I hope it will keep clicking for a month, two or three," he grinned.
Very good to see him taking his time with the Marlies so positively.

I've thought Stempniak has looked a lot better of late.

I remember watching some Brad Boyse in junior and he played that perimeter game, but he could snipe.

Seems to have managed okay.

Brad Boyse? Or Darryl Boyce?

And Brad Boyse was no perimeter player. Very tough, always in the mix.

He's looked better for sure. Let's just hope for that one final step.

Not the games I watched, but then again he wasn't very big in junior.

Even if Stempniak plays like this for the rest of the year, there's a few posters who would never admit to it.

Was at the batallion game today and Matt Duchene had an awesome game. 2 goals, both were beauties. One thing that I've noticed over watching him for the most part this season is that he needs to work on winning his faceoffs. Can be fixed though through some coaching or maybe he can just play wing.
