Somik: Out indefinitely

Another game, another injury....the plague continues.....
Somik is out indefinitely with a broken cheek bone he suffered yesterday against Dallas. It's too bad, it's players like him that make a difference against teams like Jersey, he can stop their best players.

We'll get Radio back in. Problem is, more of Fedoruk.

Not the end of the world. We have 6 good fourth line players. Maybe Somik should talk to Roenick about playing with your face.

I wonder if his face was a bit fragile from that beating Niel gave him. The hit certainly didnt appear that devastating or bone crushing. Anyway, if he has to play with a face shield, at least he wont get jumped again.

I think Somik's face hit a helmet. That will leave a mark. I just hope we don't start losing all of our extra forwards. When the Flyers suffer injuries it's a handful of the same part of the team.

Only more of Fridge for 10 games, JR will be back. Radio will probably get the nod over Fridge come playoff time.

This isn't necessarily a bad thing. Somik can skate and stick handle, but can't hit, can't fight, and can't finish. At least Fedoruk can hit and fight. Fedoruk has more of an upside.

Somik plays a good defensive game, and creates offence by good defence, something the Fridge can't do...the latter's role is to patrol the ice, and dump the puck.

You must be kidding? Somik is way more valuable then Fedoruk

Somik is a young Handzus in the works. Fedoruk is a young nobody. Somik is a defensive specialist. He'll tie up a body rather then hit and fall and take himself right out of the play. Fedoruk is a loose cannon out there. Out of the play, caughs up the puck, doesn't play smart-positional hockey. He'll sit for most of the playoffs I'm sure. Especially if Somik is healthy.

Somik is a way more valuable player all round. But I'm looking forward to Fedoruk getting a ton more ice time in the up comming Sens game!

Wow. That doesn't say too much for Somik, does it?

I gotta disagree with the "Somik is more valuable" comments. To me, he's the most useless player on the team. He doesn't bring any offense, or any physical play. Sure, he plays a nice defensive game, but that's it. He's a dime a dozen player IMO. Fedoruk is at least a player that makes some guys keep an eye out for, I don't think you can say that about Somik. However, I would agree that choosing between the two for the playoffs I would take Somik, because he's much less mistake prone than Fridge is, but I wouldn't hesitate to put Fridge in against say, the Leafs.
