I remember that. It was on overtime. I'm not sure if it was in St.Louis though...

Indeed. They're managing to stay and put up some pressure in the offensive zone.

I'm sure Renney will question their effort if they lose.

Good effort, especially 4th line. I'd put Z with Sjo & Betts and see if that line could get some more chances to the net.

i think their forecheck has been better this game, when they get the puck deep there getting 2 guys low and hard on the puck. but there still so passive when the blues are regrouping the puck at the top of their circles sending one man on the puck carrier. there so laid back and not forcing the other team to make a mistake, you just cant sit back

It's been quite obvious for a while now and even more evident tonight that the main problem with this team is there is no one who can play physical enough or anyone who takes the body.

This is why Renney continues to play the 4th line. Because they're the only ones who do ANYTHING as sad as that is because they have the ability to forecheck and take the body.

We have NO ONE on any of our first three lines who do this.

Our defenseman (minus Staal) are incredibly soft as well.

When teams have the puck in our zone and are cycling it's impossible for us to get the puck.

When we have the puck in the offensive zone we lose it rather quickly (unless it's Dubinsky, who apparently learned a thing or two from Jagr)

This is our major flaw. And Tom Renney is incapable of making any of our players bigger.

From an outsider, the system you guys play is honestly a disgrace. Tom Renney is a ****ing moron.

This team should play a system similar to what the Caps, Sabres and Flyers play.

This defenseive ******** is a serious disgrace. Players like Zherdev, Drury and Gomez would be more effective in a high end to end game.

I just.. that period was horrific. No flow, no offensive play.. just boring cycling and neutral zone defensive crap.

It is my belief that until the Rangers play a style that fits the players, the team will continue to lose. This game is a rinse, lather, repeat effort of every game before. Playing to win a 1-0 game every single night obviously has not worked.

Even as a rival fan, I've got to agree now.. Tom Renney has to go.

Is this really the best they can come up with after yesterday's debacle? The usual people showed up effort-wise. I didn't see anything in that period that tells me that this team is prepared to turn things around.

I caught some of Jeff Mareks show on CBC this afternoon. I came in on the middle of an interview with some beat writer who commented on talking to the Pens about wtf was going on in Pittsburgh, why they just couldn't seem to play with any edge or passion and he said the player told him the team had pretty much resigned themselves that MT was going to get fired so they stopped playing hard, then when he didnt get fired half the team got confused and sort of played hard some of the time, but then they were pretty sure he was going to get fired again so they again stopped putting in the effort....

just sayin

Yea maybe we can play like those teams if we had guys like Ovechkin, Semin, Carter, Richards, or Vanek.

We don't have the offensive fire power needed to play an offensive style. We've tried it once before and we failed miserably.
