Keith Tkachuck- Every thing we need

We need a leader who scores, plays with grit, passion, and heart. He is a great veteran in this league and is having a great year. If I'm Sather, I make sure we get this guy. Sooner rather than later.

This team isn't good enough to be one Tkachuck away from winning anything worth winning. The last thing we need is to trade away whatever limited assets we have for a pointless rental player.

Dawes and a 3rd. Anything more, kiss my behind. I don't even think the guy would want to be here. Princess will get homesick for St. Louis just like he has in the past.

The last thing we need is a guy who would rather be somewhere else.

This.

If anything, we should be looking to identify a core of players who are definitely staying and than start looking to sell to other teams with cap space and playoff potential to rid ourselves of some of our bad contracts. Free up some space and look to make a move or two over the summer. Hope that Anisimov or someone else from Hartford is ready to play 15 minutes a night next season. We shouldn't be in rebuild, but we should certainly be 'open to change'.

If this guy was on our team right now he would be tied for the team lead in goals. He also is one tough SOB, this guy hits and fights at his age. On top of that he comes off the books after this year. This is the type of player who always comes out to play hard and thats exactly what the rangers need. I'm all for sending dawes or korp and a pick + for him. Edit: Im all for it if we're in a playoff spot still at the deadline. If we're not than I'd rather keep the pick(s).

I agree. We can't afford to give up what it would take to get him.

I'm not sure the Rangers are in the position to make that type of move. The ship is sinking fast. That being said, the widespread Tkachuk hate is a little over the top. Yes, he's never been a playoff dynamo, but he is in great shape, is producing, and has been a solid citizen during his time with the Blues. He's the de facto leader of that team, and has been a good influence on the younger players.

WTH every single year it's Tkachuck to the Rangers at the trade deadline.... First it was Eklund, then it was TJ "The Code", now it's the fans.....

Tkachuk doesn't do anything to improve this team marginally beyond this season... Why lose assets for what already looks like a lost cause????

No draft pick is worth a two-month rental.

He's overrated and Brooks is spot-on pointing out thatthis guy has been on losing teams his whole career.

he should just go to Boston and retire. That team could use him for a playoff run.

And for those who think he will help the PP, consider this: Most of his goals are from around the net and off rebounds and deflections. The Rangers point men don't shoot and the rangers forwards shoot high.

Tkachuk will be invisible on this team and more of a liability than Shanny was in the second half of each of the last two seasons

Erik Cole is a much better option... still a risk, but he's 30. Actually, the best option would be to trade Gomez, put Redden and Hartford and offer Johan Franzen 70M for 10 years.

But something's wrong if we don't try for Cole come July.

Cole is great for this team. Super fast and never stops competing. Think about what this guy went through. he almost was paralyzed and he came back just to play in the playoffs. And he can fill the net for a 2nd or 3rd line guy

He's a real character guy and I bet a lot of teams will be gunning for him, especially the Sabres

If the cost in obtaining him wasn't ridiculous, I wouldn't be opposed to it.

If we can move one of Drury/Gomez/Redden's contracts, would you guys welcome Tkachuk?

What's the point? Why not just move the contract (not that it's very likely since no one is going to want any of them and their absurd contracts) and, believe it or not, save cap space and valuable assets like picks and prospects?
