What the hell happen to Joaquin? He used to be actually not that bad of an actor.

Oilers win, maybe 3-1.

Phoenix is a desperate team. For the Oilers to win they'll have to play with equal amounts of desperation, passion and intensity.

The Oilers are on a bit of a good run lately. These tend to be the games where they lose focus and spin their wheels. I think this game (and how the Oilers are prepared) will give us a good glimpse into the leadership of this team.
Every game scares me. 4 - 3 Oilers. The 1st line scored a couple of sweet goals last game. Keep it going.

It was a work. Apparently, Joaquin is doing some kind of documentary film with Casey Affleck and they plan on using this Letterman interview as part of that movie.

Huge game. I know I say that every game but I think every game till the end of the year is huge right now.

If we win we move into the playoffs. If we lose the coyotes are only 3 points behind us. These standings are just insane. We need to real off another 5 in a row for a litttle breathing room.

5-3 Oilers

There is a chance that local product David Schlemko will suit up for Pheonix tonight. Born in Edmonton, he played for the Medicine Hat Tigers and went undrafted, but worked his way into a contract with the Yotes.

Obviously I want an Oiler win, but it's always nice seeing local kids make the NHL.

Gretzky again throwing compliments the oilers way. He even stood by Lowe during the offer sheets.

I hope he gets some position with the oilers one day (just not coach)
If you watch the TV interview he did the other day, he makes it clear that he's not leaving the Southwest. Even if the Coyotes relocate, Gretzky said he wouldn't go with them.

That's so that Janet can stay close to Hollywood and Vegas right?

I must be tired, I enjoyed this.

No prediction from me, I just hope they don't play like poo.

And please, can we STOP MENTIONING THAT $#$@$@ SONG! I just finally got it out of my head, I'd started humming it everywhere and doing the slow clap at work just looks odd.

Apologies to Farrah was a reference to how high he was, wasnt it? He had to be blasted on something. Letterman wouldnt have agreed to that interview??? Not really a good way to promote a film... Letterman was in fine form.

oh right Oilers... I boldly predict another S/O win. 3-2 good guys.

Joaquin takes off his sunglasses to talk to Letterman right after the interview. It was downright business-like right after the interview ended. You can see him nearly break out laughing at several moments during the interview. It was all planned, imo.

There are a couple times in the interview when he almost starts laughing. Also at the end when the interview is over and it starts going to commercial he shakes Lettermans hand then Letterman says something like "Good job" and then Phoenix takes off his glasses and starts talking to him.

Looked like an act to me... could be wrong I suppose.

Farrah Fawcett (sp?) had a really bad interview in the late 90's on Letterman where she seemed to be pretty doped up. She was giggling the whole time and seemed out of it. She also thought his skyline backdrop was really New York. That interview wasn't nearly as dry as the Phoenix interview, but it was pretty bad as well.

I agree that The Phoenix interview will turn out to be some sort of social conscious science experiment or PR, but we likely will have to watch his documentary to find out.

Something has always made me nervous about playing against teams on a 5+ game losing streak. Pride always seems to boost a team a bit. Like playoff spoilers

Not to mention that it seems like teams on losing streaks tend to end those streaks against the Oil. Seems like quite often we go in thinking it'll be a win for the good guys, only to see a lackluster effort.

Oilers for some reason make backup goaltenders look good....however I don't think that will be the case tonight with Tellqvist in net for Phoenix.

Oilers 4
Coyotes 2

Souray, Cogliano, Horcoff, Penner

Doan, Winnik

Hopefully the Montreal game ended our own dirty little streak

I'm only familiar with them being used in the correct place.

The Oilers can tonight go:

(a) 2 "games" above .500
(b) 6 "points" above .500

Take your pick.

wow, Joaquin Phoenix was really out to lunch on that Letterman clip. I think Dave really pissed him off. Hopefully the oil can make the coyotes equally distraught tonight. 5-3 oil win, goals by Stortini, POuliot, Gagner and Hemmer (2).
