we've been giving up 1st and 2nds so easily recently. I wonder if we have any left. not good for the future, especially since the current squad isnt going to lead this team anywhere.
We don't need picks....we're so hot in the UFA market....
The problem is this eats up pretty much the rest of our cap, as far as I can tell. It means we didn't even wait to see what was in the running to acquire the bigger names at the Trade Deadline. I like finishing our team up early, but I'm not sure this is the right move.
Schneider wasn't that impressive a few nights ago when the Hawks played the Thrashers. In fact he had a couple giveaways that allowed my Hawks good chances.
He also didn't do much on there PP. In fact Kovalchuk and Enstrom were mostly on the point for them on PP
Well that's more than I wanted to see go the other way but I still think Schneider will help. Maybe you guys haven't been watching the team play the last month but they needed help on the back end.
And I certainly don't think this will be Gainey's only move. Let's wait until the end of the trade deadline before people jump off cliffs or lynch Gainey.
vs. Ducks: One assist, +2, 20 minutes played vs. Blackhawks: No points, even plus/minus, 20 minutes played vs. Tampa: One assist, +2, 18 minutes played vs. Flyers: One assist, -1, 23 minutes played vs. Devils: One assist, Even, 19 minutes played
Thrashers were 2-3 in that span. I think its safe to say, at least in the last five games, Schneider has been hot.
nice. schneider is an excellent veteran presence, good guy to have in the room, great slapshot. we have way too many D on the roster now...there must be something else coming.

Like he was motivated to play for the ****ing Thrashers. He will turn it around.

I can understand trading a bad contract away to give us cap flexibility, but this guy was available for free on waivers and we passed on him. If we give up good draft picks now it will be pretty ridiculous.
Edit: second and third round picks. Ugh.
Welcome to the world of Bob Gainey.
"Hey Tallon, I really like Salmaleinen, could you throw him in?" "Sure, Bob."
Then he bought him out.. lol. I love Bob, but sometimes I wonder if he's playing with a full deck.
Schneider is nice but i was waiting for a guy known as Schneidervsky, a Russian pp specialist who was a member of the Red army in the Playofsvky campaign against the Bostsitsyns rebels. But yeah what am i gonna do, he?
"For all the flack fans have directed at Schneider (and he has looked lackadasical at times) he does two things that the Thrasher badly need 1) he moves the puck efficiently up the ice and 2) he puts pucks on the net instead of waiting for a perfect opportunity that never presents itself."
A second and a third is not expensive for a warm body.
I know this is hockey futures and all, but come on.
we only got a 2nd for HUET last year who wasnt a dinosaur and playing a bigger role for them. not saying we couldn't use a guy like him but it is an overpayment that's for sure

well, we gave up a lot and we won't make any deal at the deadline cause we're screwded with the cap now... Schneider is alright though. Overall, I'd say it's a bad move, but the way the team was playing, it could be the only option he had besides firing the coach.
