1.Tomas Kaberle
2.Bobby Ryan (probably gonna be tough at this point)
3.Maybe Kovalev to play with Gomez and Naslund?

Edit:
4. To be able to trade one of the bigger contracts, I know moving more than 1 might be tough but if they can move even just 1 it'd be enough to not worry about resigning the RFA's

My wish is that this team realizes they aren't going to do anything this season and not give away valuable prospects/picks for players that probably won't make much of a difference

Redden, Gomer, and Dru for a bag of pucks signed by the players of whatever teams are silly enough to trade for them, and donated to that kid who got hit in the head with the puck yesterday.

Also they should sign him to a contract. He can prolly out skate Redden.

hey nickyZ...you're so right. First they need to lock Zherdev and as for the big contracts...I think Rozsival is out once Avery is in.

I have a feeling that we get one of these three (Grossman, Niskanen, Fristic) along with Avery for Rozy..

This!

People on these boards always make trades involving guys like Sangs and Del Zotto and Anisimov. If anything these guys should be untouchable. Slowly bring in Sangs possibly at some point next year and then Del Zotto a year or two after that. Imagine what our d would be like (offensively) in 5 years if both, or at least even one, of Sangs and DZ become what we all hope they might be. Throw that with Leetch and Girardi as our rocks on Defensive side and we may very well have a pretty good blueline.

....But as a rangers fan I try not to get my hopes up too much with first rounders (Damn you Brendl,Malholtra,Lundmark,Montoya, etc!!)

Edit: LMAO did i say Leetch?! I meant Staal

....sorry I was away all weekend for a hockey tourney and barely got any sleep hahahaha

Trade Drury, Gomez, and Redden.

Fire Renney and Sather.

Hire Laviolette to coach. Not sure about the GM though. Not all to familiar w/ the candidates available.

I agree although Sather should stay. I know it sounds off But I really think he should get a tougher coach! Like Tortorella!! I'd fire Renney and hire Tortorella right away. You see it's way easier than trading 23 players.

Yeah I was thinking about this a while ago. My theory as to why first rounders are the most likely to bust is because these are mostly skill guys. They might have like crazy hands or whatever (Robbie Schremp for example), but can't keep up with the rest of the skill in the NHL, while a grinder kind of player always plays a tougher game and can adapt to a 3rd/4th line kind of player. Getting a skill player to adapt to become a checker can be EXTREMLY tough.

Please no Kovalev AGAIN!!!! He's great one on one...but such a lazy player and we already have way too many right now.

Thats why i said maybe, he could easily be the dominant player he was last year (and during the 94 playoffs) or be a guy who you'd think was literally taking a nap on the ice. For a guy who's a pending UFA (unless I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure he is), I'd throw a flier at him. Worst that could happen is we dont resign him.

you see now the Habs made a trade and I hate the Canadiens...and I live in Montreal!! Sather needs to make something happen. Do you guys remember when rangers were playing bad and we played St. Louis..I think we won 3-2 with a 3rd period comeback...and that was the turn around point of the season! I'm hoping same thing could happen tonight. But If they lose..expect some changes. Well at least I am.

We need a PP quarterback
A big winger
and a two way forward.

1. Fire Renney and/or Sather(not gonna happen though)
2. Trade Rozi and Naslund for picks and prospects- The only 2 guys I can see getting traded because their contracts aren't that bad.
3. Try to trade one of Gomez, Drury or Redden
4. Call up Anisimov

Antropov is not going to cost much. He's a UFA. But then again the leafs are gold-diggers.

Realistic ideas? That's tough...hands are tied for certain, but i'll take a stab!

To NYR-
Ilya Kovalchuk (6,400,000)

To Atl-
Mihael Rozsival (5,000,000)
Nikolai Zherdev (3,400,000)

The only wish I have is getting rid of Gomez or Redden or Drury. Move all 3 if you can. I know its not close to possible but one can dream.

My wish for the deadline is that this team is able to somehow get rid of at least one of these garbage players (who have garbage contracts) Gomez, Redden or Drury.

Zipay mentioned Brad Winchester a couple of weeks ago in his blog. I am looking forward to seeing him play tonight.

Realistically, I do not think Sather or Renney are fired before the deadline. I would think the Rangers best shot at doing anything significant is looking at another unhappy situation and trading bad contracts. Something along the lines like Penner from the Oilers. Because of the cap situation, it's rather difficult.

excerpt from Zipay (January 2009)
Quote:
If the Rangers are scouring the classifieds for reasonably-priced unrestricted free agents who may be available and could help down the stretch, here's a few we'd consider:

Defense: Sean O'Donnell, Denis Gautier, Kings. Both 6-3 and 220-plus; Steve Eminger, Tampa; Filip Kuba, Ottawa; Derek Morris, Phoenix; Ville Koistinen, Nashville.

Forwards: LW Brad Winchester, St. Louis. He's 6-5, 228 and has seven goals since Dec. 13; Chris Neil, Ottawa.
