I swear to God, some people around here just look at the ******* numbers with JVR. He is averging over a point a game with average at best linemates. UNH is not a deep team offensively like BU is
Guess we should have drafted superstud Kyle Turris.
I am going to say it right now. JVR will be a better pro then Kyle Turris when he does get here.

I didn't get that out of might2mash's post at all. Actually, I totally agree with him. And other than what's posted on here, I haven't bothered looking up his stats. I only go by what I've seen of his play. I don't get to see him a lot, but when the chance is there, I watch.

Nowhere does he say we took the wrong guy, just that he doesn't seem to be developing at the rate you would expect out of a 2nd overall, and I don't disagree with this assessment at all. Maybe I'm just seeing his "bad" games, but IMHO, he's having too many of them. Is playing at UNH on that gi-hugeness surface with "average, as you put it" linemates really benefitting him? Cause I'm not seeing it. That's not a knock on his skill, just what he's doing with it.

I'm not sure what kind of careers these guys will have, but these are the only names I recognize above JVR. As far as I know about all of them, Wilson and Schroeder are the only ones on JVR's pedigreed level.

Colin Wilson
Garrett Roe
Aaron Palushaj
Nick Bonino
Ryan Stoa
Jordan Schroeder

We could really use this guys bad mood on the blueline. I know Marshall is probably a few years away from breaking into the Flyers lineup...I just hope last year and this year are two of those years.

Finally the WHL homepage works again. Unfortunately Lethbridge lost 1-2 to Edmonton yesterday, but at least Luca Sbisa got himself another assist and was named 3rd star.

Well, not crap, but nowhere near the level of Hockey East (the conference JVR plays in). The Atlantic Hockey conference has no teams in the top 20, and only 2 in the top 25 (21 and 23). For comparison, HE has the #1, 4, 7, 9 (this would be UNH), 20, and 22 ranked teams in the latest USCHO poll. So yeah, not quite the same level of competition.

As others have said, I'm not sure what Hodgson has to do with us discussing JVR's development, but yes, he's a great prospect, and almost made the Canucks out of camp this year, so he'll probably be on the team next season.

Fun fact, JVR was drafted by the Brampton Battalion, so if he had chose to go the OHL route, he and Hodgson would have lit up the league together as teammates. That can't be why you were bringing up Hodgson, was it?

I had asked if there were any other potential NHLers out of that list of NCAA top scorers and his name was brought up, but as was previously mentioned Cody plays in the OHL so I guess he doesn't really have to do with anything.

Anyone think that if we got the first pick we still would have taken JVR. I can't even imagine how great it would be to have Kane in our line up.

I think Lupul would have been so gone by now if that were the case.

I dont think this turns into a Blake Wheeler situation. You never know with Holmgren though, if JVR says im staying in college then he may deal him at the draft. I hope he isnt traded, and if he is I hope its not a 10 cents on the dollar return like Carolina got with Jack Johnson.
You mean the same Jack Johnson who's done nothing with the Kings?

Patrick Maroon

Has anything changed in the expectations from maroon (better or worse) as his first full season with the phantoms winds down?

Could he turn into a late bloomer like knuble?

never the **** mind. I mentioned him because I thought of him mentioned with other highly touted prospects. Totally missed the point of college NHL prospects.
So thats what I get for not reading some of the other posts in this thread involving "other college prospects"
whatever.

I'd rather have JVR dominate at the CHL level like giroux did. It would at least make me feel better about him.
