I don't think he will ever be able to carry a line by himself, which is something I hoped a high-profile winger like him would do back in the days. Did I have overly high expectations? Maybe, but you have to remember that 2003 draft to understand why I did.

He will turn out alright, but I need to see more of his work ethic and his speed to turn my opinion of him around. Let's hope he keeps it up and remains impressive.

AKOST along with price plekky and Higgins were our best players on the ice yesterday. Kostitsyn reminds me of a younger Hossa...in the way that he plays strong on the boards beautiful hands and when he wants to use it great speed.Maybe a little more physical than Hoss.

Komisarek, Kostopolous, and Hamrlik had a bad night but we played great last night i loved how we looked in certain points

I've said it before and I'll say it again...he plays a lot better defensively on the right side. He doesn't get caught along the boards just inside the blue line and can make better passes to clear the zone.

He will produce on wtv side he plays, but he plays better defensivly on the right and that's why he should stay there.

He's our leading scorer by a wide margin, so I can't complain!

last game :

plekanec played like a man. Higgins played with heart and passion . A.kos took some shots and the lead on the pp. komisarek played a better game. Markov was solid. Gorges remembered how to play in his own end. Laraque scared brashear. pacioretty and dagostini played with conviction and started to shoot the puck and get involved offensively. Price was solid.

all because kovy wasn't there?

pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaase.

He didn't fail to make the team...The team clearly pushed a 19-year old who wasn't ready for the NHL into his spot.

It's not the last time either (Price)...sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

You can argue the point all you, but he was a big part of our most productive line late in 06-07. Not only that, he was quite good in the second half last year, with the pace of a top 20 scorer league-wide for about 30-35 games.

You seem bitter we didn't draft the big superstars in 03. Kostitsyn is a great pick at number 10 in just about any draft.

And there is still a lot of time for him to prove he belongs with the big names in that draft.

Oh and P.S., didn't Rick Nash score his 24th goal last night? 3 more than Kostitsyn?

Isn't Nash so much better? So much more? What's his excuse? He's 24 also...

I would like to remind everyone that in the last 24 games Andrei has 15 goals(since december 27th).

He's also 16th in goals for a left winger.

IMO, the importance of being sorrounded by a good team when your name is not Ovechkin,Malkin or Crosby.

edit: He's having a good season actually , he's on pace for 30-35 goals.

Yeah, but it's not like the Habs are that much better this year.

A. Kost is going to be a star for the habs. I predict a breakout season for him next year based on the stats of his other draftees back in '03.

J. Carter's first three seasons in the nhl:
GP G A Pts
81 23 19 42
62 14 23 37
82 29 24 53

A Kost:
22 1 10 11
78 26 27 53
54 21 14 35

He is going to be a great hockey player. He has a great shot with a quick release. He might end up with upwards of 30 goals this year.
IMO he gets around 27 goals this season. Not bad for his 2nd full year.

That's what I'm saying...

Read the post before.

I'm just using the guy's logic. He's clearly Benoit Brunet.

Andrei moves where he feels most comfortable, regardless of where he is positioned in the lines. That's how he plays.

I find it funny how no-one ever considers that maybe, just maybe, Andrei told Carbo he feels more comfortable on the left? Maybe he played RW in Russia and the AHL but didn't feel good about it? Nah, of course not, damn Carbo.
Did you take notes on that goal tonight?

That goal never happens on left wing. It's really not a difficult concept to understand.

I think if he plays to his potential over the next 2 games Gainey will feel all the more comfortable moving Kovalev.
Good Call.

I think it's pretty obvious that Big **** needs two linemates (cough cough Koivu & Lil' Crips) who can feed him the puck consistently in the offensive zone. He has the intangibles to produce with the best of 'em

Probably atleast top 15, looking at it from a non-homer perspective anyways.

If he shoots more often and plays with just a little bit more passion, he will be a consistent 40 goal scorer.

Lets not forget how we could have lost him for the season earlier this year when Saur took his head off, and it took him almost 15-20 games to come alive really after.

So you think he will only score 5 goals in the next 23 games?? Pessimist, aren't you...

Are people really saying Kostitsyn is having as good a season as Rick Nash because he has almost as many goals? If thats all there is to judging a player then guess he is having as good a season as Malkin as well because he has almost as many goals.

But yeah he has been doing much better of late..
