There was an adiction social worker on CKAC this past Friday AM who spoke of an ex-Habs star player who played in the 80's/90's. He would not name names. But check out the hints.....
#1- french star from the 80's/90's...
#2- the player stuttered, and when he is stressed, he stutters more.

In all honesty, if he was trying to not name names, he could have done a better job hiding who he was insinuating he helped.

I tell you, what was the point of that? Throwing gasoline on the fire....

Freaking ratings bonanza!

The guy on CKAC was realy trying to say it was Stéphane, seriously he was so unprofessionnal it was discusting... he also said "i cannot tell you the number of goals he scored because you would automaticly know who he is" (sic).

The radio host had to tell him he didn't care who it was. What an *******.

Shouldn't this be confidential information. If it is Richer, he should sue him. He has no business throwing that information around. Another a-whole looking for his 15 minutes.

Same here. Players just have to be more saavy these days as the internet and cellphones with cameras etc are just so prevalent, anything they do these days can get them in trouble.

Roche Voisine didn't help matters by quelling the ruomurs. He had done the whole "no comment" bit when asked about it on a suggestion by his managers to keep news focus on him.
he regrets it, but they hadn't even met until quite some time later.

This guy is a therapist, so we should not assume there is no confidentiality agreement. Those only exist between Doctors and patients. Otherwise it is a question of ethics, that guy had no problems bending his.

More or less, it is like telling a bartender a story. This guy got his 15 minutes in the sunshine that is sports talk radio, to hell with who he burns.

Well if a person goes to AA meetings or any other addiction for that matter, they don't even make their membership list available to the police unless presented with a court order.

You see a family councillor (no university degree), or someone for occupational therapy or schools, you still need permission to divulge information.

I had the same impression when I heard it. This is the kind of things we don't need to know. And that I don't WANT to know. The guy went seeking for some help and that's all that matters.

I believe that is not a legal issue, that is an ethical issue. AA will not divulge unless they are forced to. The difference is a doctor/hospital cannot LEGALLY divulge patient information.

Then agan, I am not a lawyer, I just play one on TV.

The confidentiality rules apply to every professional in the health care business (be it MD, social worker, nurse, archivist, psychologist etc), are precised by law and are strictly enforced by professional orders (and by law when required). If that guy talked to a patient, confidentiality is supposed to cover every bit of information. Now, it depends on whether he is member of a real professional order or not but what he did just by disclosing the info is reprehensible (even before hinting at the patient's identity). He can be sued, or the institution where he was working could be. I don't know.

Confidentiality is not a joke and is not treated as a joke either. Fortunately.
