Begin Complaining About Being Scratched

http://www.rds.ca/canadien/chroniques/269460.html

Summary... he has no idea what else he can do to stay in the line-up, wants answers to his questions. No longer knows how to react on the ice when in the lineup, doesn't trust his instincts anymore. Coach won't or hasn't answered his questions. The fact that Stewart made it in the line-up despite just being recalled over him makes the choice tougher to swallow.

Naturally, in true RDS style, this is a very sympathetically posted article. If Kovalev said any of this, the site (which laughably called him "L'Artiste" yesterday) would be holding a protest outside the Bell Centre... but anyway.

P.S. They called Kovalev "L'Artiste" throughout this article: http://www.rds.ca/canadien/chroniques/269386.html but later changed it. As per the internet, there is no longer any proof, so mods, feel free to remove this part if you want, but I read it yesterday *shrug*

I think it's a little weird too. I like Begin. He's physical and has speed.

Well, it's pretty clear that Bégin isn't in the plans anymore.

Guy like Stewart can easily replace him. And there are plenty of guys like him in the AHL and NHL.

I can understand his frustration. Maybe he'll get traded, I wouldn't mind not having him in big games. He has a very bad record of taking bad penalties.

I love his energy, not so much his tendency to bad penalties.

But he is ultimately a fourth-liner and to use him you have to take a fourth-liner energy guy out. And Kostopoulos and Lappy are both better than him, meaning that the spot he wants is Greg Stewart's. And Carbo decided to go with the kid.

It's very unfair, but that's part and parcel of his role.

Yeah why's Bégin out of the lineup while Sergei Kostitsyn's playing!
Oh wait...

The life of a fourth liner. I think Begin's head is getting too big living in Montreal. He's easily replaced.

Dear Steve,

I suggest getting an old Delorean, and going back in time. Don't go too far back though, maybe stop in the Patrick Poulin era, because he won't crack a single lineup from the 50's - 94.

Leave my mom Lorraine alone, say hi to Biff..
Love,
Habs

Normally I'd say he's a loser for whining but I'm siding with him. It just adds further proof to the argument that Carbo doesn't know how to talk to anyone. At all.

What a mess. Good lord...Begin is the kind of guy who would die on the ice if he had to.

If a coach loses BEGIN of all people...You know you have a problem.

Enough to make you miss the days when people glorified the healthy scratches on good teams as true role-models. Remember the 94 Rangers?

I see Kostopoulos-Chipchura-Stewart/Laraque as our 4th line next year. That's means the end of the Dandenault/Begin era.

Again, I have to agree. We're lucky Carbonneau said that he improved his communication, imagine if he didn't improve...

I think that those injuries slowed him down a lot...

I mean he is always giving a lot of effort, but I recalled him playing with a lot more passion and determination, two or three years ago.

...that's one point I'll give you.

If I was the manager of an office and someone was being sent home early, I'd probably tell them why.

omg who does begin think he is, in any other playoff team he is a 13th or 14th forward and nothing else

a year or 2 ago begin was on fire, hitting everyone and causing penalties, but now he is non existent, doesnt hit, doesnt create energy, gets bad penalties, isnt big, no hockey sense, so what does he bring?

i drather have a big body in stewart who will play his ass off to stay in the nhl, dandenault atleast brings speed and smarts, laraque well ''protects'' other player, and atleast chipchura has hockey smarts, something begin just simply does not have

stop complaining and when you do play, do like kostopoulos and give it your all

If Belak can fetch a 5th round pick, i'm sure BG can trade him for that too.
