No way, Kovalev's a dog. I don't care how good his youtube stick-handling moves look.

Yep, just stay in MTL and pass is given. He will never come to NY due to flight restrictions still left after 9-11, unless I missed the memo.

What team hasn't Kovalev had it with??? He is a lazy player who rides the coat tails of his teamates. He did it here and in Pittsburg. Now he did it with the Canadiens.

BTW. Kovalev said he'd never play for NY Rangers again so the point is moot.

Kovalev is an utter disaster but then again, so is our offense and our power play.

I would only acquire Kovalev as a rental if one of our big-4 contracts go the other way

Could you imagine Kovalev mentoring Zherdev:

Kovalev: "You are trying way to hard. You need to relax a little and not take every shift so seriously. then you can start treating games less seriously. then, the next thing you know it, a month has passed and nobody knows you exist"

Zherdev: But Master, i already know this. Haven't you seen me play at all?"

Kovalev: "You are correct, my young apprentice. Well done"

Kovalev future HOF? lol...Naslund is closer to the Hall then he is and Naslund ain't getting in.

Naslund has a full NMC and I doubt he trades it to go to Montreal... if he would it would to be San Jose or Boston or Detroit.. even then I don't think he waives it.

why is Naslund closer than kovalev?

is it the 60 or so less regular season points at the same age as Kovalev or the 60 less playoff points; or a combo of the two?

How about the vastly higher peak than Kovalev? Doesn't matter because neither of them has a shot of getting in...at all.

I'd trade Gomez for him. Then immediately trade Kovalev for a pick or something.

Yes please, by all means bring him back so we can have the figure skating combo of Kovalev & Zerdev doing figure 8 curls at the blue line @ the same time opposite one another.

God, just............I mean............WTF.........C'MON!

I'd trade Naslund for him. Hope Kovalev can get hot down the stretch and the Rangers get salary off the books at the end of the season.

No number is required for induction. It is a very subjective thing. The numbers are used for NA players, but there are many HOF players that do not meet unwritten standard and there are some that never played in NHL. The impact onto Hockey Game is a consideration, not the contribution to NHL many believe it is. Being first Russian
amateur drafted by NHL may be taken as an additional historical aspect of the overall contribution. Heck, they almost inducted Hendersson just for scoring the winning goal against Soviets in1972!

On the other note I am glad that Habs are screwed with or without Alex so far...

and come to think of it we have a few russians that may be coming into the team the next couple years and Kovalev may be able to accomodate them nicely...anisimov...grachev...etc.
If we can move a big contract than bring it on. If not, than no thank you. We have enough inconsitent guys on this team.

Alexei ain't going anywhere. He will be resigned by Habs and will retire a Canadien. His number will be retired by MTL eventually.
They made him to take a few days off cause coaching staff needs to spank the kids out, and he is no help. May be he flies his plane and sorts some things in his head. He had too much of the good time at AllStar and needs to get back into working horse mode.
oh yeah, HOF based on his 2 30+ goal seasons and 2 point per game years. its not like he contributes defensively.

and "get back" into working horse mode?? When has alex kovalev EVER been in working horse mode to begin with?? No thanks on this one.
