For a rebuilding team, Toronto has an awfully small amount of picks..

Interesting that to this point, only San Jose has traded their first in this upcoming year - everyone else owns their own still.

That was for Dan Boyle, am I correct?

I'm sure they have no quarrels with losing that pick considering what Dan has provided for them.

Another link which includes all conditional picks - a few of which are uncertain at the moment:

San Jose

2, 2, 5, 7

Doug needs to calm the **** down with the 3 for 1 trades. In the last couple years they have gotten Braun, Bonino, Pavelski, Mitchell, Zalewski, and a few others after the 3rd round, and are probably top 5 outside the top 60. Stop trading picks.

Islanders have three 2nd rounders, and unless they end up with a top 2 pick I can see them trading their 1st for a later first and another second.

Boy is that team going to be good in a few years if they can keep it all together.

the NHL website isn't 100% accurate as it lists that the Canucks own thier 3rd round pick in this up comming draft, but that was traded along with a 2nd round pick in 2010 for Steve Bernier

Speaking of Draft picks, do you think San Jose is kicking themself for not keeping the Leafs first rounder in the Toskala deal. They had the option to use it in either 2007 or 2008. If the 2008 pick was bottom 10 it would automatically be used in 2009. How good would that deal look now if they held on to the pick.

Even though they don't need it, it sucks for San Jose doesn't have a 1st rounder in this draft.

Just because Snow did that once, doens't mean it will be his MO for every year to come.

I believe that third rounder in 2009 was a Los Angeles draft pick acquired in a previous trade. Vancouver should still have their third round pick this year.

If they play their cards right they could be a legit playoff team next year with a few picks for players moves.

As a B's fan, they have to unload salary after this season, so if I'm LA why not inquire what type of picks it would take to get Chuck Kobasew, Sturm, Aaron Ward..who knows. All guys with decent salaries that could probably be had for cheap considering all the picks LA has. What about Detroit. You think Ken Holland is going to hang up on LA when they inquire about Filppula?

For the record, I'm not talking about LA taking on just brutal contracts (see Redden, Wade), but rather calling the teams that are going to have to move decent guys with decent deals because of the cap, and see if you can get them for below market value in a trade. Hypothetically, giving up a 2nd and a 4th for Kobasew when you have two 2nds and three 4ths would even put a dent in your draft quality, but would instantly give you a top 9 winger on a good deal.

But I can believe the Leafs gave up a 5th round pick for Hollweg, since they always trade away picks.

You decide which one was worse.

Not sure why the 1st link has given Toronto a 5th round pick in 2009 when they traded it away to the Rangers as well.

for this year, i doubt the kings think about brining in a forward. Their forwards seem to have FINALLY found chemistry together. adding a top 4 dman wouldn't hurt if it kept Gauthier off the ice -_-

This site is significantly more in depth than the OP's site. It includes which picks were traded and how the trades went down.

By reffering to this site you'd see the pick Vancouver traed for Bernier was LA's pick that was previously acquired.

They'll be in a power position at the draft when other teams are looking to acquire picks or looking to trade down to acquire more assets.
