when it comes down to it i think antro will start a bidding war, one team will want him more than the other and will overpay we could also try dealing in a conditional if he resigns.

Antropov's cheap contract compared to who he is as a player and what he brings to the table will garner more interest than people believe because in the confounds of the cap his contract can easily fit for any type of trade. A 1st is a starting point Burke will get a prospect on top of that.

1st round picks are only good if that player makes the NHL or can be traded for other assets that make your team better.wouldn't be surprised if Burke dangles our own 1st rounder to see who wants the pick & what they're willing to give up.

With 20 games left the salaries are amost irrelevant. I think everyone is dreaming at getting a 1st for Antropov. A 2nd and a mid level prospect - see the Yanic Perreault trade.

Burke himself said thats what the asking price is.if he doesn't get fair value, then Antro stays.

if burke traded our pick.

Id cry?

PS. a top 5 pick is pretty damn valuable. IF burke is entertaining a deal like this, I think he would request deals that are so off the wall that if another team accepted it, they would be getting fleeced HARD

You should just change your name to "Crazyman". Burke won't trade our pick.. he's a good GM.

No, I saw him. Honestly, I didn't think he looked that great. He's been better than Pogge in the AHL, but he plays for a good defensive team, so I don't put a ton of weight on that.

It just seems like a lateral move, one that neither team would be very interested in doing.

Now that Burke has come out in the media stating he want's a 1st for Nik, I think he has to hold his ground. It's kind of important to show he's not going to be give in just for the sake a trade. I don't believe we are going to see a repeat of the Stempniak trade from Burke, settling for less than what he wants. There should be a fair amount of buyers out there this year. I'm hoping so, anyway (keep in mind, I'd rather keep Nik, though, so....).

Nik's value is going up with his latest goal scoring antics.

Wonder if the teams that are interested, might be getting nervous that Burke might reconsider his position, pull him off the market and resign him for the Leafs instead of move him.

That said both the Trade deadline and UFA season brings out the biggest GM idiots to overspend and out bid each other in desperation acts so you never know what can happen.

Sometimes its a domino effect where one idiot adds to his team and then others in competition feel they need to keep up with the Jones.
very much like when one idiot posts here and other idiots follow him like sheep

I think Nik could be signed for a reasonable amount, so why would you trade him for little?

What the agents opens with and what Burke opens with are not the end of discussions.

You're right - Yanic got a 2nd and a mid level prospect.... BUT ...

a) The Yanic trade was at a different time in different market conditions ... there's more buyers this time around.

b) Yanic was not 6'6 and on pace to potentially have a 30 goal season...

I think those are two pretty BIG differences...

I agree completely with what you are saying with respect to re-signing Nik. In case, it wasn't clear, where I think Burke will hold his ground is in relation to what he would accept in a trade for Nik. Now that he's said he expect's a first, I expect him to hold fast to that or pass on trading Antropov.
