Gainey is managing like a king the whole story. Some GMs are probably offering peanuts for Kovalev, and Gainey will increase its value from here to the deadline.
Ohh ok, Kovy says hes good to go now, so hes back. There is no REAL accountability, only mini vacations.
No real accountability? They just let the world know that Kovalev has been benched, stayed home and that the team is not satisfied with his play. They did not fake an injury or anything that could have saved him from facing the truth. He is coming back from being a healthy scratch for two games and the Canadiens didn't hide that fact. What more would you want them to do?
kovy needed a kick in the butt ... we can all agree on that ... but he loves to play here, and a couple of days off should have put everything in perspective ... that's my opinion from the start of this saga ...
I hope to see him get back to his 2007-2008 form and make sure the team peaks just before the playoffs
today is a good day.
Or he could still stink and be a total waste of bench space again.

hmm...how about off the team?
im fed up of players who dont give any effort and float out there. We dont need those types of players. I dont care how much talent he may have. There has to be a standard.
He has had ONE good season in 5 years, yet people would jump off the bell center for him, it makes no sense. Even fans have adopted the mediocrity.
letting a 36 year old "star" go home for 2 games because youre not happy with the way hes playing, in my opinion is alot.
Its just such a soap opera.
IF Gainey just wanted to sit him out to get perspective and rest, then he should have just made up an injury, that or just have hit sit in the press box. What was the point of all the calling out?
The hoopla did nothing but make the habs look disorganized and flakey.

Maybe ive lost perspective because i really didnt want him back, but its my 2 cents.
who are you, I've not read much of ur comments i think
however you and I are thinking alike... we are meant for each other I swear!
even you assesment of maybe having lost perspective cuz you didn't want him back
boy do the habs look flakey right now tho
I hope Gainey is doing this to preserve value, because I really think this team would have been able to gel in this guy's absence
Also Carbo needs to not give Kovy's minutes to Lappy and Kosto... just no
and FYI what will it show of Kovalev if he comes back and lights it up?
People will say "ohhh hes back!!" or "told yah hes amazing" or "what character!"
How about he needs a national crisis to get him going on the 100th year of the Canadiens? How about he had a part in the canadiens having sucha terrible season because he didnt put in the effort or desire. If he comes back and plays well, it will actually show how weak minded and selfish he really is.

just a man with a dream

Yeah, but that would be a lose-lose situation for him, whatever he does, he's lose. So it would still be better for him to comeback and pay respect to the fans who paid him so well, by giving us a good show. It sorta would make amends, don't you think?
IMO, Kovalev has been a drag on the team for much of the year. It was not surprising to me that Plekanec and Kostitsyn looked so animated last night. When Kovalev is on the ice the tempo drops and guys with wheels aren't as effective.
Kovalev can go faster and he can take the body more, if he wants. He just doesn't have the heart to put in that kind of effort most nights.

sure to those who dont appreciate hockey, just the hype.
"OMG I was at Kovalev`s comback game OMG OMG hes soooo amazing, he almost deked the whole team OMOMG but he fell and the sens scored but he was close OMG OMG"
