he almost always lets in a goal when he actualy does something good. Ozzie needs to be sent to AHL pronto

Yeah, how dare the fans get behind their goaltender!

They should boo him until he just leaves of shame. That is true justice.

For Osgood to be the least talented fan favorite he needs to be a fan favorite first. He is not.

Yeah definitely, I was at the game where he scored his first goal of the season and the place was goin insane. However its not just because hes an enforcer, off the ice he is always one of the nicest and classiest guys when dealing with fans.

That Crosby guy gets a ton of attention, and he's one of the worst players in the NHL. He's a 4th line scrub at best. Maybe an agitator. Nothing more. Yet everyone loves him...

I disagree. I can understand your point with the "Ozzie" chant during games, but I really don't see the support other than that one chant.

Chad Larose. He'll never win any awards, but he's got the heart of a lion. Last game against the Bruins he was going at it with Chara (Larose is 5-10, 180) They didn't fight, but I don't think he would've backed down if it had gone to that. He gives 110% every shift, and according to the coaches he gives the same level of effort at every practice.

example from last season:

I dont have exact numbers, but it was basically like this:

Osgood - 950
Datsyuk - 450
Zetterberg - 300
Lidstrom - 150

That really, really shocks me. I think we are dead in the water without Nick each and every year, and I am surprised that he got so little of the vote. I think we, as fans, take him for granted.
a funny response:

Ozzie got a lot of play in today's game. While Hasek was pitching a shutout, Daniels and Murph spent a lot of time talking about Ozzie during the stoppages.
i have seen the same thing many times in the poll during games.

go to a DRW forum. many crazed osgood groupies. this site is for all of hockey, so it's much saner.

read the comments on news stories from detroit area papers. lots of them are from delusional osgood groupies.

before this season, i had an argument with a DRW fan on this site who compared osgood to jari kurri and grant fuhr in arguing that osgood should be in HHOF.

someone else compared him to ken dryden.

I love the guy, but Milan Lucic is way too highly regarded in Boston.

Good points. Though at LGW.com, there are practically no Osgood "groupies" on the forums, so I don't agree that all Red Wings forums have a bunch of irrational Osgood apologists.

By fan favorite, you mean we like him? I thought he was supposed to be our black sheep (and rightfully so, up until recently).

Another one for SJ is Goc. Such stone hands, love him. He'd be my avatar picture if not for the sexy that is Semenoff.

Fans actually like him... surprisingly. I even saw a jersey/shirt with his name on it - I was like woah... that's brave.

There's one fan favorite in DC, and he fits this bill perfectly: Matt Bradley.

Stephane Yelle when he played for the Flames. Tons of jerseys all over the Saddledome.
