We can see why Briere and others have turned down lucrative deals from the Habs. If we could ever land big UFAs like Boston has done with Savard and Chara, we might not suck so much. But alas, Habs management is always shorthanded by the fact that no agent encourages his client to go to Montreal. We shall see this off-season when certain UFAs are let go and others will have the chance to sign with a willing Hab negotiator. Depressing week got even worse, or better depending on how you look at it (this "scandal" was hilariously overblown).

Actually, if you think of gangs and organized crime, you think of Chicago, Miami, New York, or LA, not Montreal.
While that is true, Canada is getting worse in that department. At least from what I know the Vancouver area "gangs" are out of control right now.. 12 shootings in 16 days or something.

I think there's more to this than what's coming out right now about their involvement.

If they were just partying and buying stuff off this guy that's one thing. If they were involved in laundring or dealing or backing up this guy financially that's a much bigger thing.

How'd Price and Higgins get dragged into this?

I am kinda dissapointed though. Expecting a lot worse and the media should did do a good job in getting our hopes up.
You're disappointed that the most historic franchise in NHL history isn't having its team name completely dragged through the mud on its 100th anniversary?

Wow looks like the media played everyone here. Lol. Some of the stuff people were saying on here before it was in the paper was good for a laugh though. Glad to here it's not what I thought it was, don't want the sport to be like baseball.

Wow...if that is considered a big story it's a good thing Pavel Bure wasn't in a Canadiens uniform or it would've been "The WORLD IS OVER!!!" every other day.

Seriously, the Montreal media in dealing with the Habs has got to be a major detriment to the organization in terms of getting UFA's to sign without at least overpaying huge. I sure as hell would avoid a place like that if I were a player, every little thing you do could become a piece of slander. What's next? Koivu is seen doing an interview with Cassie Campbell and suddenly he's having an affair with her?

No worries, we all knew Montreal media were a bunch of opium-heads anyway.

What the **** is the point of having gangs in Montreal?

You can smoke pot in the streets and and go to clubs and drink alcohol no matter how old you are.

What more could one want?

Umm to deal coke, heroin, methamphetamines.... Prostitution rings, illegal gambling rings, racketeering?

Plenty of money to be made from gang activity in any major city....

For some reason I found this comment hilarious, just imagining someone opening their door late at night as a drive by shooting is occuring, stopping everyone and then asking them why gangs are necessary in Montreal.

The gangs control most of the hard drugs sold + juvenille prostitution.

Still, Montreal has a ridiculously low crime rate and it gets lower and lower every year. For a 3 millions people city, it has a lower crime rate than a lot of boring rural towns in Quebec.

Maybe the Kostitsyn's feud with Grabovski is about drug money or a girl
