Around the League Thread (All OT NHL/Shanny Posts here)

Instead of creating a new topic for everything that happens around the league not Ranger related, I figured we can put everything in here. I also like to follow other NHL games on Rangers off days as well, and that can be discussed here.

I'll start it off...

Adam Mair was fined $2500 for trying to get at Chris Neil in the Sens locker room. This is what Neil said to Mair during the game that set him off apparently: "I've used you as a punching bag before."

The best was Neil's comment after the game:

"We've had some good battles and he has taken some suspensions on me in the NHL," Neil told the Citizen. "He must not like his paycheque or something like that."

Yeah, I was very surprised when I read that. I mean, come on, having one awful period, but three?! I know San Jose is playing defensive like hell this start of the season, but come on... Must've been Nabokovs easiest shutout ever.

I'm kindof shocked they did not atleast suspend Mair. Apparently you can attempt to go in the other teams locker room whenever you want.

This kind of thread used to be stickied, any reason why it was taken down?

Pittsburgh needs guys like Jordan Staal to step up, but he didnt have a shot in 20+ minutes. They're having serious depth issues.

True. The Penguins are definitely not getting the best of luck right now, and I couldn't be happier.

In retrospective, yes. They lost important depth guys in that trade and it's depth they're missing nowadays. That and Gonchar on the IR.

Pretty good game between the Laffs and the Debbies. 3-3 so far. Clarkson just beat up Mayers in a fight.

Tied 4-4 now. The Leafs had a really long period of sustained attack to get the fourth goal. It was just one shot after another. I wouldn't be surprised if they had 8-9 shots in the 1-2 minutes.

Leafs just scored on the PP. 5-4.

They might not have a really good team, but the Leafs really go out there and skate. Gotta give it up to them.

Edit: 5-5 now, Parise on the rebound.

This game has been nuts! It's been 2-0 Devils, 3-2 Leafs, 4-3 Devils, now 5-4 Leafs.

And yeah Marty is having a howler

edit: now 5-5. crazy game

Oh and Marty, you may hold records and all that, but Henrik owns him right now, and is a much much much better shootout/penalty shot goalie
