Reitz Counters Islanders...

Finally, maybe this rivalry can mean something again.

From Gross's blog (http://njmg.typepad.com/rangersblog/):

Quote:

"It's hockey, you get hit," Reitz said. "I wasn't intentionally leading with my knee, if that's what he means."
Quote:
Reitz was then asked if he had any history with Bergenheim or Hilbert.

"No, but I do now,"

I actually think Reitz has done well in the limited time he's been here.

Would love to keep him until the kids are ready..

i like how reitz actually shot the puck on net against the isles. our defenseman are not very fond of doing that.

yea he seems to be a descent 6th or 7th.........rather have him be the 7th and thing is I am sure he is ok with that as long as he stays in the NHL

I agree, I think he's a 7th defenseman. Fill in for Mara, but that's about it.

This.

I want him in the lineup every game. He gets a bad rep for his defense and puck control skills which I think are decent. I'd rather have him in the lineup every day than Kalinin or Redden.

Agreed. This guy isn't going to fix our problems all by himself, but he's definitely a piece to a larger puzzle. He's exactly what we need for a 6th/7th guy.

Same here. He takes hits and throws hits. He doesn't back down. Something this teams needs more of.

Maybe Reitz needs to see the hit. I like the guy's grit, but you can play with an edge without trying to injure people. Garbage plays like that can ruin careers.

I like Reitz, but he definitely stuck his leg out. Not cool.
Everyone makes mistakes though.

So did Bergenheim skate in a straight line or did he try to avoid Reitz's hit? I hate the knee on knee hits too, but isnt there something to be said about a guy skating into the knee trying to avoid being hit?

Love it. This man is our 6th Dman. Not our 7th.

Awesome. I like Reitz. He's only been on the team for a few weeks and he's willing to inject himself in the Rangers-Isles rivalry. Next game against the Isles should be fun...

I see your point but I still think the onus is on Reitz to avoid the hit

I like Reitz. He's one of the few guys on our blueline that will actually hit someone.

Redden and Rozsival:

He is definitely a beast and if Mara can get his bear-like reflexes back, well that is a nice defensive pair.

He will be benched in a day or two once this gets out. Renney will not allow anyone to play with heart for the risk of him being injured. Renney will only play heartless players

Partly responsible. When you're about to a hit a guy who's holding the puck along the boards, you move towards the boards. When that player changes directions about two seconds before impact you brace and hit back. I don't see intent, Reitz didn't read Bergs mind thinking he would move to avoid the hit at the last second, looked like Berg was just skating along the boards, thats where the puck was up until two seconds before impact.

Please, everyone on the team would bury you in a second if you played them, try not to be so tough over the internets
