Well, we can officially say that the entire Islanders fan base is now San Jose Sharks haters.

I'm thinking that based off of the pages of people arguing that Ottawa got ripped, Ottawa made out good, the Islanders gave up too much, the Islanders fleeced Ottawa, that this must be a fairly even trade value-wise.

I like it for Ottawa: they get a solid second line center, who played well there previously, and a young defenceman, while giving up a spare part, and a late 1st.

I like it for the Islanders: they get rid of a big contract, and get a late 1st. Now, presuming the Isles finish at/or near the bottom of the league, come draft day, they can package up the late 1st with their second, and it's like dealing two late 1sts for another high pick.

Doubtful Comrie raises his stock that much in 10 days unless someone gets really desperate.

San Jose's 1st rounder... Big deal. Essentially worth Campoli.

Depth for when Kuba goes now.

Comrie for McAmmond... Probably works more in NYI's favour.

Tavares hunt: Atlanta trades Schneider for picks.... Tampa let's two of their best defensemen go out for the season.... NYI responds with this trade. Your move, ATL.

How much value could Comrie realistically gain in 10 days?? He's not going to go from being worth a late 1st (with Campoli) to being worth a first all by himself in the matter of 3-4 games

With all the seconds the Isles have, they may be able to trade the SJ first and a second to a pick somewhere from 10-15

Value wise this is actually not that far off from what I expected prices to be this deadline. What I don't get is why the Sens are the ones making this trade. They're 13 points out with 25 games left and have cooled off the last 2 games. If they were in the #8 or 9 spot this would make 100% sense to me, but they're not, they're really not all that close to it.

I honestly can't see anybody giving a first for Comrie. A 2nd + stuff is the most I expect him to get

I don't think this exactly gets them over the hump. They have one of the worst prospect bunches in the league. And now they deal their first round pick hahahahaha GO SENS???

What is a low 1st round pick? Not as much as people think.
T.J. Oshie (24th), Patrik Berglund (25th), David Perron (26th), Corey Perry (28th)...

Well we went from 2 floaters in our top 6 to 3. The forecheck should be as good to watch now as it was in the 2007 finals.

We have to go 20-5. We have a mediocore defence, decent forwards who can't seem to score, and questionable goaltending. Not gunna happen. I have no idea why we are buying. I guess if Murray can flip Comrie at the deadline, I'd feel a little better about this.

Waddel doesn't need to "try" to tank to get Tavares, he just needs to make his usual quality of deadline deals. How that guy is still employed is beyond me.

The list of players who became busts at that draft position is far longer.

What's funny is how many people in this thread believe it's Ottawa's 1st rounder.

Comrie didn't want to leave Ottawa originally, they simply didn't have the cap space at the time.

Maybe Murray wants to bring him back, who knows?

I do know that he was Ottawa's best trade deadline acquisition, after a tons of busts (i.e. Bondra, Arnason, Barrasso, etc.)

You really think they could move up 15-20 spots in the first round by offering a 2nd?

I said earlier in the season, that there needs to be a time where Bryan Murray just needs to realize the team just isn't good enough. When he fired Hartsburg., it's basically an acknowledgment that he knows he won't be back next season if Ottawa doesn't make the playoffs. It's a desperate move by a desperate GM.
