Bobby Ryan is just a beast...

Ducks would laugh at this offer.

right - everybody is way over-valuing Bobby Ryan - for example I think Ryan could become a leaf for maybe stajan or callicohorse or ponykarovski or maybe throw in steen or maybe some other random over valued leaf player we're all sick of hearing about over and over again

Hey, I don't have a horse in this race. It's just my opinion. People swing from "bust" to "franchise winger" awfully quickly is the point I was making.

And right now you are really undervaluing him, this post suggests you have not been watching him play

Pitt would have to add Letang and probably another prospect/pick...

Staal will be a solid NHLer, could maybe even reach all-star potential, but Ryan is showing right now that he will be an all-star for years to come.

Laughable offer. I wouldn't even do this if the pens included their first. Ryan is pretty much a point a game player and will only get better. One of the best young prospects right now.

Ryan has had a breakout NHL season and is playing really well, his value has defintely risen exponentially (He has proved he is NHL material). He's on pace for 57 points, better than any of Staal's totals the last two years. On the contrary there is Staal, who has arguably had a subpar season (considering it is his 3rd NHL season and SHOULD be getting better, not worse). Ryan definitely seems to be more talented than Staal and seems to have more potential.

This trade would probably have been garbage for the Pens a few years ago - the tables have changed.

Now the Pens have to throw in a lot more to acquire Bobby Ryan.

Staal would be a good addition for the Ducks but not at the expense of Ryan. I think it is very possible for the Pens to move him soon or in the off-season but he won't get this kind of return.

I would probably counter with staal for kunitz + 2nd, but i don't really think that ana/pit are good trading partners

I completely agree that theres no way the Ducks would do this, despite the fact that they could use a guy like Staal. Nevertheless, easy with the stud talk...everyone thought Staal was going to be a huge deal after his rookie year too.

Stall is the perfect second line Center for Pitts they HAVE to trade one of Crosby/Malkin and if they did they would have their top six fwds set with the package they would get in return.

Tell you what, as a Kings fan, I would rather see Jordan Staal 6 times a year than Bobby Ryan.

Yes because the ducks *GASP* were actually patient with hmi and didn't rush him to the league when he wasn't ready unlike some teams

yeah they were, but having watched him in Owen Sound, it was pretty clear once his skating got up to snuff he was going to be something special.

We'd have to add Letang for the Ducks to even consider this.

Then add from there, too.

staals rookie season must have been quite a fluke because he has been poison the last two years.. this deal would never happen

I take it you haven't watched him much the last two seasons.

Im curious where all this talk of "Bobby Ryan being an all-star for years to come" is coming.

He obviously has tremendous talent, but he hasn't played a full season yet. Take it easy...

Just watch him play. There's some impressive rookies this year...Mason has been the only one better. That's no slight to Backlund or even Brassard when he was healthy. Staal's going to be a good player but Ryan has already surpassed him.

I don't agree, really. Staal's still a younger guy, and has a ton of potential. I'd be tempted to take him over Bobby Ryan. It would be very close.
