Tough Week for Flames thus far

The Flames may have got 3 of the 4 points available in the two games this week, but they`ve been costly

Rene Bourque - Out 6 - 8 weeks - High Ankle Sprain
Daymond Langkow - Out 2 - 3 weeks - Bruised hand (I`m assuming broken due to length of him being out)
Andre Roy - Out Indefinitely - Concussion
Mark Giordano - Out day to day - Clutterbucked

Lundmark has been called up and if Giordano is out for sure, Greentree will probably get called up as well.

Not good.

Lanks is day-to-day. Greentree is a LW, not a D.

Calgary never seems to have injury problems.

The fan's reporting that Langkow's timeline is exaggerated, he could be back the game after next.

True, but if Gio can't play then they will move Vandermeer back to D which would mean a forward would need to be called up.

Also like Cole435 pointed out, Lanks injury has been overstated. In fact, he was a late scratch for the game against Minny.

Bourque is a really tough loss, he played his heart out and was having a great season. It will be tough to replace him, but now Boyd/Glencross will have to take advantage of more ice-time and if Iggy gets his scoring touch back, we will be fine. Iggy is primed for a breakout, he has looked like his old self the last few games.

Aww, Calgary's missing some depth players?

Try losing half your D, or your goaltender.. then come and tell us it's been a rough week.

I know it was sarcastic, but Bourque has been more than a depth player for the Flames this year.

wow I am so sad for the flames. Can't believe how many injuries they have. Worse than every other team. All the canucks had to go through was losing those scrubs Luongo and Salo for a couple of games. Nothing like this.

So horrible.

Hyperbole more than anything - and yeah Bourque's been good this year and Langkow is a key guy year in and year out.. but other NW fans have been waiting for Calgary's turn to find out what the injury bug is like, and IMO they haven't seen the half of it.

That's a tough break. The Flames were pretty much injury-free the entire season.

Flames have been pretty fortunate for a few seasons now. The only serious injuries have been to their depth players.

This season for example they got out from under Warrener's $2.5 million contract because his body was too broken down to play.

A couple of injuries, most of them minor is really nothing to talk about.

Yes because the best centre we have in Langkow and arguably one of our best players this season in Bourque getting injured are "minor injuries". It's not like we're losing Boyd and Lombardi, Bourque is tied with Iginla in goals this year with 21 and Langkow is playing like, well Daymond Langkow.

Two huge parts of the team.

Langkow and Giordano supposedly day-to-day is pretty minor. Bourque is the only player that is an important part of the team that will be injured long term and he isn't one of the Flames' top five players.

Colorado is missing Sakic and Stastny. Washington was missing Semin, Green, and Poti at the same time. On and on it goes. Calgary having a couple of players on the shelf for a couple of games isn't news.

I don't see any major problems and I highly doubt we fall apart like just because of a few injures. Hell, even when Iginla got injured for 12 games two years ago, the Flames were still on a roll with other guys stepping up. That's the way it'll have to be again and guys like Lombardi and Boyd need to step up their game.

And the fans of the rest of the teams in the entire league figured reading your post was a waste of time.

Not having Giordano makes the Flames better.

when bourque was a hawk he always got injured when he was starting to fire up and he took awhile to get going again once he came back. looks like this is still the case.

(though I am not a fan of airing this stuff on the main board....) fact is, Bourque was slew footed and can hardly be blamed for some nagging injury or whatever you are refering to. Flames, due to great conditioning coaches, have been 'lucky' with injuries but some things happen even with great conditioning etc. Bourque has been great and we will miss him, but as other teams have experienced, we will have to have other players step up and of course rely on whomever is called up from the farm.
