Canucks - Flyers

First time proposal so I could very well be WAY out to lunch here. Flyers are supposidly shopping JVR for a young proven NHL goalie, Canucks have Cory Schneider in the AHL who's anything but proven but is never the less a great prospect...

To Flyers

Cory Schneider
Mason Raymond
1st in '10

To Vancouver

JVR
2nd/3rd in '09

This seems to me like it would be more of an off season trade. Value wise I say its not bad for both sides. You may get flamed from both sides because it is HF and everyone here thinks the world of their prospects over other teams.

Man, the Canucks are giving up a lot here. For one prospect?

Thats actually pretty fair value. Wouldn't happen till the offseason, but I'd probably do it if our goaltending issue still remains.

Also, we don't have a 2nd in 09, so it would have to be the 3rd.

Can't do it right now because of the cap, but it's close.

JVR, Randy Jones, and the Flyers 3rd in 2009 for Schneider, Raymond, and a 1st in either 2009 or 2010.

As of now, Cory Schneider is only being used as a 'safe guard' to if Luongo doesn't resign. I don't see why Luongo would want out so Cory has little value to us. Mason Raymond is a fantastic player with 2nd line potential. However JVR is simply better with more potential.

Hmm i like this idea. Canucks need a prominent power forward prospect. Flyers need a top goalie prospect. Value is fair, and by the replies everyone seems happy.

GET ER DONE!

I don't see this trade happening in the next few weeks...at all. If it happens it will be during the offseason, and the cap wouldn't matter then.

Plus, even if it were to go down soon, I'm not so sure the Raymond would play on the Flyers right away, he would probably go straight to the Phantoms since we don't really have the room for him. Maybe take the place of Powe, but the Upshall-Giroux-Powe line has been great for us.

I definitely see this as an off season trade. Raymond and Upshall on the same line would be pretty damn fast.

after the season if we could make that trade. Schneider Raymond 1st 09 for JVR 3rd and
Lupul Jones to Min for Backstrom and have Backstrom Schneider as our goaltending!!!!

i think it would fit under the cap
Gags Cannon Briere
Hart Carts Knuble
Uppy Giroux Raymond
Cote Powe Asham

Timmonen Parent
Coburn Carle
Alberts Sbisa

Backstrom
Schneider

I really really like that line up!!!
Uppy

We're still taking a significant risk on a raw prospect in JVR for two more established players in Schneider and Raymond. At least we're holding onto our 1st this year, but it's still quite a bit for a player who by many accounts is at least a couple of years away from contributing.

I'd still think about it, but it's a lot.

Just a thought for flyer fans but if Briere would waive would you move him straight up for Khabibulin I think this deal works for both teams.

i would if we could do a deal like

Philly gets
Khabby
Skille/Barker

Briere
3rd

I like it just b/c we get all that salary back at seasons end to put else where and the fact we ve done great without him. and with Skille/Barker we could package that for say Vermette as our third line Center waive Metro and Powe as our fourth line center. but alot of people seem to think we need Briere for the playoffs. ill agree he makes our power play look different but other then his PP ability i dont think we really need him.

I'd also love to parlay that VAN 1st rounder into a Lupul, Metropolit, and 1st rounder to TOR for Kubina and the Leafs' 2009 3rd deal.

Gagne-Richards-Knuble
Hartnell-Carter-Raymond
Upshall-Briere-Giroux
Cote-Powe-Asham
Gratton, Kalinski

Timonen-Kubina
Carle-Coburn
Vaananen/Alberts-Parent
Alberts/Vaananen, Kukkonen

Biron
Nitty
(Schneider for 2009-10)

Damn, that lineup could really make some noise in the playoffs. We give up JVR, Randy Jones, Joffrey Lupul, Glen Metropolit, and our 2009 3rd rounder for Pavel Kubina, Mason Raymond, Mason Raymond, and the Leafs' 3rd rounder (up 10-15 spots in the draft). Plus, we'd have a top goalie prospect for the future, and could let one of our UFA goalies walk, and we'd clear a ton of space for next year's cap, not to mention add a legit #2-3 defenseman for this year and next. I should e-mail Holmgren.

We can't take on Raymond's salary and bring Briere back without sending someone costing more in return. You could waive his ass if you want.

I would do this deal from a Flyers perspective. I like Raymond a lot and obviously Schneider would be great to have. I don't see the Nucks making a move like this though even though the value seems pretty close.

He's not raw... his big strong... and putting great numbers in college. He is like bobby ryan.

I rather have him anyday then scheider and raymond

It's JVR were talking about here man...

Sorry, had Parent twice. Wasn't sure if he should go 2nd pairing or 3rd. I have reservations about dropping Coburn out of the top-4, even if he hasn't been playing as well this season. I wouldn't want to undermine the kid's confidence.

I won't comment on the value of the trade, but when was the last two time two solid prospects such as these were traded for each other? I'm guessing it hasn't happened often. If JVR was was guaranteed to turn pro next season, I would probably do something like this(Schneider and 2010 1st for JVR and 3rd or something).
