Philly goalie move

With Minnesota prolly not going to make the post season with the top 7 pretty much an in and LA and Clb and Edm for the eight. if we make a proposal Min cant refuse they would trade Backs especially with Harding ready.

Philly gets
Backstrom
2nd
4th

Minnesota
Lupul
Nodl
Biron
1st
SJ 3rd

then make another trade in the Off season for Schneider, Bernier, Draft w/2nd rd pick. try and resign nitty cheap but if hes too expensive you could sign Raycroft for 1mil or another goalie at that price.

Isn't that a bit much to give up for Philly? Also, the Wild are two points back of Edmonton with a game in hand, so I don't think they're out just yet.

Why bother exchanging all these picks? Take out the 4th and 3rd... Like really.

I imagine Minny would do that, considering it isn't likely Backstrom will be in Min next season. They probably dont want Biron, but I suppose as a salary dump that's fine...

It's basically Lupul, Nodl, 1st for Backstrom, 2nd... I'm not sure, you may have to let Min remove their second there and throw in like a 5th.

Not really, it's just Philly dumping salary and downgrading their picks for a #1 goalie

If Philly is looking at picking up a new #1 you'd be better off trying to get Khabibulin out of Chicago. However i'm not sure how Philly would clear the cap space to pick him up unless it was something like Knuble + Biron for Khabibulin +.

or Biron Jones 3rd for Khabby but we dont want a 39yr old. screw it lets just steal Luongo. Trade Lupul Jones Metro. So tired of not having a goalie in this town. its fing rediculous. idk how the GM can not see what we see.

Backstrom's a good starting NHL goalie but I don't consider him an elite NHL goalie so yeah, i think biron lupul and probably a second should be enough for backstrom, minnesota needs scoring wingers so lupul would be a good pickup for them.

Well were always trying to trade you Schnieder for one of your forward prospects but you know, you guys don't seem to bite Haha

b/c we are looking for a goalie to take us thru the playoffs and Schneider is not that goalie yet. i would like to make a move for Backstrom and Schneider and have that as our two goalies. Nitty plus others for Schneider would be nice and Van would have a solid back up behind Luongo.

Some people are severely underrating Backstrom. He is a VERY good goalie. People will claim he's a product of the system, but he's not.

AGREED! That was just brutal.

I think this proposal is a bit much though, especially the 1st round pick. The Flyers wont be trading that pick, not unless we're getting a top 5 goalie. Backstrom's #'s are a result of the Wild's defensive style, no way he gets all that.

IMO I think a deal involving Philly and Minny for Backstrom would consist of a lot of conditional picks to be honest. Backstrom makes Philly a contender so I think there'd be a conditional pick based on how far Philly gets in the playoffs. They're also, definitely, be a first conditional on his resigning because he is significant talent (maybe 2010 first). Just my two cents.
