Lehtonen has been injured alot hes been questioned as far as his conditioning, ill admit its hard to shine when your team isnt very good.

Backstrom has been in top 5 goalies arguable the last three seasons hasnt been injured he is an All star.

i think there is a clear cut difference between the two goalies.

First of all I doubt Backstrom gets moved at the deadline - if the Wild don't think they can resign him before July 1 they may do a Ryan Malone type deal - a pick for negotiation rights. Secondly if Minny was going to move Backstrom they would have no interest in Lupul - an overpaid defensive liability signed long term, Nodl is a descent prospect, but nothing special, and Minny wouldn't be adding a pick. I could see something like Knuble (UFA salary dump) 1st and Sbisa

Well yeah, Lehtonen has also been outplayed in the big spots he has been in, while Backstrom plays in the trap, and if he came here, we play the exact opposite of such, so he's going to see more shots, and give up more goals because our defense is just not as good as the Wild.

i never said he would be as statistically successful here as he is in minnesota but he is better then Biron. yes Backstrom will give up more goals here then in Minnesota but he is still the type of goalie that could back stop us to a Cup.

He might be better than Biron, but who was better last year when the chips were down? I agree that Backstrom is better than Biron. I picked the Wild to go to the finals last year at the start of the playoffs. Granted, last year isn't this year, but you're the one who was talking about proving things. Biron at least proved that he has the ability to get white-hot and carry his team through a series when the Flyers were outplayed by Montreal in all 5 games in the playoffs. Like Biron last year, Backstrom has not won a playoff series.

Holmgren had planned on it, and backed off during the offseason. He probably didn't like the numbers Biron's agent was giving him.

its funny that you think a goaltending change would have made the difference in the drubbing you took against the Penguins last year. 4 games to 1 doesn't indicate a disparity in goal. That indicates a disparity in quality of the entire team.

What would concern me about the Wild's playoff chances is that they've burned a lot of home games. They have only eight left for the rest of the season.

Four of their last five games before the trade deadline are on the road, and they might not be far enough out of the race to consider themselves sellers of Backstrom.

Not always. Philly-MTL last year.

Sometimes being on the road is for the better.

Backstrom would do well in Philly. I would say that the 1st rounder should be conditional on him resigning there though.
