Kaberle, I think that he is very underated.
He also has a lot more experience then Streit.

I won't take one side or the other right now because I could end up changing one's opinion lol. I want to see what others think.

Oh and Kaberle.
My bad, I'm still getting used to these boards. If the mods wish to move the thread then that is okay - although I hope they don't since this section is probably going to get the most attention these days, for obvious reasons lol.
Streit. He's out-produced Kaberle over the past 2 seasons and is superior defensively.
Cue leafs fans.
Kaberle has outproduced Streit over the past 3 seasons.
Not to mention Kaberle is around 0.59 ppg the past 10 seasons.
The way I see it Streit is a little bit better defensively than Kaberle but Kaberle is better offensively.
Just because this season Kaberle is having a bad year doesn't mean you should forget what he has done in the past.
Kaberle, no doubt about it. More experience, makes players around him better on the top of his game. He's also younger than Streit. I think Kaberle is still also a better skater, just maybe not as solid defensively. Streit isn't at the level of defenseman like Kaberle. If he consistenly plays as well as the past two years I might be swayed.
Streit is not even 3 months older, I don't see how this would make a difference.
It was meant to reflect upon the point Kaberle has more experience. Hes slightly younger with more NHL, playoff and international experience. World class defenseman... Streit has still to establish himself as thus although i believe hes close if he continues his play. Right now Kaberle, in a cpl years if Kaberle continues to decline in his play then I might say Streit is worth more.
Are we really comparing a 4-time All-Star, Olympic medalist and 10-year veteran with a guy who has basically had 2 or 3 "good" seasons in the NHL? Wow. I am resisting the impulse to flame here but it seems like the hating has the potential to be especially strong in this thread.
Part of the problem with this thread is it starts of equating contracts - which is never a reasonable place to start when you are talking trade value.
Kaberle has got two more years at 4.25.
Streit has four more years at 4.10.
So, if you trade for Kaberle, you'd better have a two year window for winning, or be ready to ante up to market value in two more years and hope that Kaberle does not choose to go back to Europe or resign with the Leafs.
On the other hand, if you trade for Streit, you are committed for two extra years if his game goes south or if the economic meltdown causes the cap to shrink.
All things being equal, I think that most GMs would prefer the longer contract. But, there probably are some teams that would rather have the flexibility down the road.
