Actually it's you missing the point. The poster is rather clear, Chicago doesn't want nor need Spezza. The Hawks have a #1 center who will soon be making #1 center dollars that they would rather have than Spezza.

This trade makes no sense for either team to be honest with you.

You mean Byfunglin? The rare magical mushroom that instantly strips the panties off of any female within a five mile radius? Chicago just can't afford to give it up. Kaner needs all the help he can get.

And no to the deal. From both sides.

Jason Spezza OTT = 58GP 21G 27A 48PTS
Jonathan Toews CHI = 57GP 21G 27A 48PTS

1 less game played. whatever.

I wasn't keeping track of the Ottawa - Montreal game. At the time of writing that post Toews had 48 in 57 and Spezza had 46 in 57. However it is obviously a small margin but at the time of the post the margin was there.

1) He has 6 years left.
2) We could only hope that we could get a player back as good as Spezza. Even then, we'd be paying him close to $4M on a rookie deal before he either flopped or started making as much or more than Spezza.
3) Ottawa doesn't need to rebuild. They need to sort out their goaltending permanently and play systems that fit their strengthes.

OP you're a genius. How about a Toronto trade that involves Kaberle and Antropov to NJ for John Madden and Mike Rupp? Sounds fair I think.
