it still boggles my mind when ever i see tucker and arnason out there when the goalie is pulled and were "trying" to score a goal, those two barely have over double digits combined in goals lol.

Tough Loss. But all those damned penalties killed us.

No kidding. A typical shift from Darcy this season seems to be:

1. Skate hard into the attacking zone with an intense look on face.
2. Throw a hit (accuracy/effectiveness not required)
3. Adjust helmet to encourage optimal hair flow.
4. Give up on play and watch puck leave zone.
5. Glide to bench and breathe heavily - feigning productivity.

A dramatization perhaps, but I'm equally frustrated with his ice time in key scoring situations late in games. Where O where have the old Tucker and the 04' Arnason gone? *Cue X-files theme*

That line has been working really well though (for the previous 3 games). That's been the problem with Tinkering Tony for quite some time. One bad (or not great) night and he splits up a line that has been great for many games previous to the bad game.

Willsie belongs in the AHL.

Is it just me or does it seem like Tucker loses his helmet once every game. That and he seems to hurt himself at least once a game too.

LOL. I've seen him throw so many his where he misses and knocks himself hard into the boards and then has to adjust his helmet as he has taken himself way out of the play.

I dunno, the few games that I've been able to catch has made me a Willsie fan. He shouldn't have a larger role than a 4th liner, but he fore checks hard and creates turnovers in the offensive zone and from what I've seen he doesn't try to do more than he's capable of. Just my opinion though =/

I don't get this comment at all:

Quote:
"They call more penalties in the East," Avs winger Ian Laperriere said. "We've got to expect that...
All NHL refs work Western Conference games, Eastern Conference games and inter-conference games. I can't see Kerry Fraiser, Paul Devorski or any other ref saying, "hey we're in an Eastern Conference city tonight. Let's make sure we call an Eastern Conference style game..."

Wolski has been generating a fair number of chances over the last month, he probably could have alot more goals right now if goalies stop robbing him. I think once Stastny comes back and takes a bit of the load off of Wolski, his numbers will go much higher.

I just hope he can continue his production with lesser wingers.

True, but he's still getting Smyth on his line. Smyth and Svatos aren't the worst wingers to be with.

Last year when Stazz and Sakic were hurt Wolski and Svatos were able to produce on a line with Arnason. That's got to be a good sign.

Late to the discussion but I have read the entire thread...

1. The first period was just a damn fun one to watch. That is the kind of hitting and forechecking I want to see, and I wasn't really upset at any of the penalties...most of them were "technically" speaking penalties, but penalties I wouldn't bash a player over. I just think the refs should swallow the whistles a bit more. Hejduk's high stick was a high stick though...and he's entitled to one of those every decade or so I guess. That was probably the most "callable" penalty I saw.

2. The problem with #1 is that our PK unit ate up a large number of minutes early on and it tired them out.

3. Lappy out there taking those two shots off the legs/ankles/foot/whatever, then being helped off the ice only to come out and continue playing only re-confirms that whole "It's All About Lappy" thing. The guy is 100% effort and should be retained at anything less than 2M for 1 year or 1.5M per for 2 years. He's a leader and we need him, especially if we start bringing in more kids. Couple of articles in the on-line papers this morning talked about his status...I think Lappy for the numbers I suggested helps develop kids into NHLrs more than his return would help the teams future since we are talking about giving up his grit and talent for kids who may or may not make the NHL and will surely not have Lappy as a mentor or role model.

4. What's not to like. The AVs gave me a very great first period to enjoy and still ended up losing which doesn't hurt the draft position. Geesh....The game not only allowed me to root and cheer, it allowed me to feel like we are a bit closer to a quality pick.

Ah, so it doesn't just seem like I see too much of Chris Rooney around here.

I just don't see a 65-35 split between conferences making a big discrepancy in calls between the East and West.

The Avs got so many calls against them yesterday because they played stupid undisciplined hockey. They would have had a bunch of penalties called against them no matter where that game was played.
