Only in Toronto can "trading a 31 year old #1 D for picks" and "rebuild in 4 years" be uttered in the same sentance.

I mean ****, this isn't a 37 year old Mats we're dealing with here. Kubina will be here for a long time if given the chance.

This kind of reaction is a bit much.

The Leafs were pretty consistently competitive before the lockout. They were ill-prepared for the nNHL, tried unsuccessfully to compete with the Sundin/Tucker/McCabe core, and are now in the early stages of a rebuild that will likely take a few years.

Patience, my friends, patience; this thing will take time. If you jump ship that easily, I hope we don't see you back 'round this way when skies are blue.

Not true. Mess has the rules for being a "real fan", we're still waiting to see the criteria.

Patience? I'm coinsidering jumping ship because I fear they will be impatient and try and retool....

And you think im harsh? 40+ years without a cup, 3+ years without playoffs and counting... Get real dude.

Wonder why DD and Watters didn't even mention it.

I'm as hungry as anyone and I can certainly sympathize with your frustration, but you can't start thinking about changing allegiances. You just can't. As David Putty said, "you gotta support the team."

What the heck is all this talk of abandoning the team? Seriously? Over a potentially slow trade deadline? Where's all this patience for a slow, steady rebuild I've been hearing about from all you guys? I'm honestly really surprised at such talk. Anyone who thinks this is bad sure didn't live through Ballard at all. This team is on the right path, I don't know how you can't see that. It's going to be a marathon, though, not a sprint.

Leafs should be in your blood, man, it's not a choice, it's a passion.
I personally am scared he is going to keep the status quo, we fall out of the top 6, and then retool in the summer...

Rule #1
If you ever cheer for the Leafs you are not allowed to embrace the high draft pick they may get the following year.

Really, I mean, so we trade him in the off season.. meh. Team's a mess, we all knew that, BB can't fix it all in four months.. years maybe, but not months. Stock up on beer.

I know you don't believe it, but that's not necessarily the end of any hope, should that happen, which I don't think it will.

Are you a fan of the all time franchise leader in Goals and Assists?

If you said yes, you aren't a real Leaf fan!

Given his preference for young roster players, I always thought June would be a busier month than March for Burke. Not angry at all that there won't be a massive fire sale next week, it's coming, just not until the draft IMO.

Can't say I've spent much time thinking about it, but good point since you mention it.

If they rebuild, im with them, even if it fails, but if they keep the status quo and repeat the past with a re-tool im done, I just cant justify voting for continued mediocrity (should they decided that is the route). I'm sorry, I really am, but I just cant.

You still believe a full on rebuild is the only way to succeed in the NHL?

If he stands pat at the deadline that will speak volumes to me. You cant tell me there aren't any good enough offers for Kabs, Antro, Poni etc. Especially after the Campoli and Schneider deals

I feel that this is the direction that we are heading in yet again.

I keep seeing in my mind the timer on the bomb going down...3,2,1.....and instead of a big BOOM...representing this team getting blown up...

All I am hearing is a little piffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff. Seems it wasn't an HE grenade that went off...but rather a smoke grenade.

I get more stress in my life from being a leaf fan then I do from working full time...

Shouldn't it be the opposite?

We could always go the UFA route! Oh wait no one wnats to come here. But we can still make trades! But then again how many of those happen? At this point in our franchises history we have no other alternative but to rebuild, and I want to be good for a long time, not just a couple of years like Anaheim.

If it's not Kubina before the deadline then it had better be:
  1. Antropov
  2. Kaberle
  3. Someone else

MINIMUM
