Jesus dude, we get it, none of us are happy with how Drury and Redden have been playing but heck, with a new coach the preaches an attack style offense, maybe these guys will get some goals, anything is better then how they're playing now, honestly, they cant get any worse.

I dont understand where youre pulling this whole a new coach will turn Redden into Mike Green.

Renney was a decent coach and a smart person. Pearn should've been fired about 3 years ago, one of the most brutal PP coaches I've ever seen.

As you've said, it's the person firing that should be fired. $ather would've done better flipping a coin at his decisions.

Maybe we will be like the Phoenix Suns and score 140 points after our coaching change... I'll settle for 3 goals a game..

Unfortunately his days were numbered. With all the money they have invested in the team, they aren't where they should be. Hopefully a new coach can ignite a spark. Who do you think will get the coaching job?

Take a minute to appreciate what the guy did do for us. That being said it had to happen,. especially pearn in my opinion. Sather should be shown the door after the season. I'm not packing it in now, I'm more optimistic

Intersting factoid of the day:

All four teams that started their games in Europe this year have fired their coach.

probably only I find this interesting.

May help in the short run, but the team itself still needs some major changes in the long run

If Sather could manage to trade even just one big contract by the deadline without giving up a lot of crap with it, I'd consider that a success at this point

1. I didn't spell any words wrong, or use any exclamation points in my posts, so you're childish personal attacks aren't needed here.

2. I'm not trolling.

3. It was a direct response to "ofdacrossbar" and his "LIFE. new life. new team. new start. new beginning. new chance. new this, new that" post. There isn't ANYTHING new about this team, it's the same crap players (for the most part) that can't score or defend.

Sather is more at fault than Renney. However, Renney wasn't very good. He didn't bench veterans, he couldn't get the power play going, and the whole Prucha situation really boggles the mind. He wasn't very creative. He lost the players. Limited personnel or not, there's no excuse for two too many men on the ice penalties in one game, or the amount of shorthanded goals we've given up. I thank Renney for leading this team back to respectability the past few years, but it was time to move on. Hopefully Slats will be next.

The coach is gone, but much remains in place, such as: No finishers, a horrible power play, inadequate defensemen, no on-ice leadership, an aloof/what-has-he-done-lately GM ...

This team is what it is: average.

I don't disagree with firing the coach. That said, thanks to Tom Renney for being behind the bench when the Rangers regained their dignity.

Anybody who thinks this team is a competitor now is fooling themselves.

Anybody who thinks this move was unnecessary is fooling themselves.

This is step one of 4512474.

Not so much Peter Lav, I think Ted Nolan would be a great choice for the Rangers. but I think the Rangers are too old school traditional to go there. It's too bad because he can get a lot out of an average or even below average team. Tortorella would be a pretty good choice too.
