Project our Points on April 5

Hard to do, because we don't know how much we will push for strong close or backpaddle our way into good draft slot (ie 26-30).

But looking at the schedule, with us standing 22-30-13-4 for 61 points, what do you foresee?

If we aren't playing for the bottom and just gave it our best for the last 13, my guess is:

75-77 points

if we backpaddle, maybe 68-72.

I'd say 73 as a guess.

Hmm...

This team is playing some great road hockey as of late, and the Penguins are in just as dire straights as we are in the standings. I'm going to chalk up a win on that one. However, everybody else is as well and i'm doubting the Pens finish the season without another victory. Oh well, we shall see.

I make this a loss b/c it's exactly the kind of game the 'Canes lose. If the Pens play the night before on the west coast and lose a couple of their best players to injury, you can mark this one down as a loss right now.

BTW, Pens are on a 3 game wining streak.

Guess they're showing us. And I thought I was high with 75.

Geez, could 80 points be a possibility. Outside chance maybe. Of course, that and a dollar gets you a cup of coffee. At McDonald's. I don't know what else, other than a good feeling going into next season...would be just this franchise's luck to lose the edge on an extended lock-out. But it does feel good to watch competitive hockey and feel like there may be someone able to finish.

It does ... but remember that any Canes who have been playing with nagging injuries will probably be on the sidelines now that Carolina is officially eliminated from playoff contetion ... that sometimes factors into a bit of a swoon towards the end of the year ... especially since the Canes are not exactly overwrought with competent AHL talent to fill holes.

With that said, I think Malec (& maybe Fast) will be called up. Hedican is supposedly playing with a number of nagging injuries (Forslund said this) and probably needs to take a rest.

I don't see another forward getting a call up, unless it's a veteran player like Teteranko (who can play the F or D).
