TSN has worked great for Torts and Burke whom were both fired and became TV boys for a short period and got back into the game...same can't be said for Domi and Milbury though.

It worked pretty good for Barnaby as well to get a ESPN contract after Melrose went to Tampa too.

Torts is the hard @$$ that Rangers need, and probably need to keep the future Ranger Avery in line too.

Well if Zherdev wasn't gone before this he certainly is now. He is not going to like Torts one bit.

I agree with the earlier poster that I'm not sure it was the coach who was the problem. Maybe now the Rangers will have a GM and coach on the same page?

I'm giving it about 5 shifts till Redden is sitting on the bench, then in the stands.

Torts pinches his defense like crazy, if Redden has an ounce of offensive skill he should succeed in his system.

Tortorella loves to live and die by the sword.

This is the most boring Rangers team I've seen in 30 years.

Can they just hire Pierre McGuire instead? TSN can't afford to lose Tortorella.

Huzzah! A pinching defenseman! What a ****ing concept!

I'm liking this so far. Granted, I'll wait until he actually gets behind the bench to make any judgements, but at face value Torts is the kind of guy the Rangers need in there. I think Mike Pelino is a great hockey mind but he's not the guy that should be running this current Rangers team right now. Schoenfeld or Torts was what I was hoping for, so I'm very happy right now.

Does this mean we'll see Renney as one of the members of the TSN Hockey panel?

Renney is going to stay in the organization in some capacity.

can't wait for my NY Post tomorrow. Round 2 with Brooks.

With that said. Renney wasn't the problem. Hopefully this does not work out for the rangers.

fixed. Lundqvist was one of the most fed up players on the team, with the crappy defensive style.....that didn't play defense.

Crazy, but for the Rangers...it seems like anything they do isn't easy. They get Avery back...but he's really not back at all. Just doing time with the Wolfpack. Will he be back? Who knows?...what is there 20 other teams that can claim him if...IF Dallas calls him through re-entry?

They fire Tom Renney...but he's not really fired. He's relieved? Is he going to stick with the organization? Who knows?

They reach an agreement with Tortorella, but wait...Another snag. Lightning has to OK it. So now the waiting game while this gets ironed out by the league.

So, for now...there is no coach. Maybe Tom Horvak will lead the team into Toronto wed night?

Wow everyone was right about this it seems.. Yesterday we have a topic saying the Leafs will likely get Renney fired if they win I then see Tortorella as the likely candidate. Everyone was right, give yourself a pat on the back
