whos in and whos out under torts?

assuming its torts which i hope it is, gimme some names of the guys who are in, who are out and who are on the move.

i say prucha and korpedo are both in. prucha adds speed and energy. korpedo has untapped offensive ability.

orr and voros out. unless fighting really good and fighting really bad helps us score goals, both these guys see way less ice with torts.

gomez and rozy on the move. reitz playing well and mara hopefully coming back allows us to move the 2 human turnovers.

Why is it that all of the sudden these guys are tradable now that there's (seemingly) a new coach?

They still have rough contracts and the economy is still lousy.

Hope one of Drury/Gomez (we all know Drury won't be moved) and Redden. I hope Rozi is not moved unless we get a good return on him, since he is still a very solid Dman that this team needs.

Possibly Voros since at this point, he isn't worth much to the team (if Prucha is being played).

I would say its only a matter of time before he rips into Redden and Drury. Id give it 3 games before one of Drury, Gomez or Redden find themselves riding the pine.

Voros lasts exactly 1 period. He'll get benched and forgotten about.

I don't think Orr goes anywhere. Dawes will have to step it up to stick around. He can't be invisible. Kalinin is a scratch when Mara is back.

I guarantee there are several teams interested in Gomez.
He's not as bad as many here claim he is.
There are teams that desperately need a playmaker like him and have the available cap room.
Phoenix currently has 9.7 million to work with...

..and stick to for more than a period and a half. Hopefully a couple lines develop some chemistry and aren't broken up every couple shifts.

Who's in and who's out?

the guys who can't be moved are in and those guys will prevent others from coming in, so not much may change.

It's tough to say right now who will be Torts' boys and who will not be; and I'm sure Torts is approaching it the same way as he hasn't gone on the ice with these players as of yet, and until he knows what he has, how can he know who he's keeping and who he's dumping? I think Torts is coming into a very difficult situation and I typically think the right coaching move at this juncture in the season is to hire from within. Changing things around at this juncture can be disruptive.

I'm just not sure teams are willing to take on his contract. Those that have money to spend would be better suited to wait and see what the FA market is like. The economy will have an affect. Just look at what baseball players are getting on the market this winter.

Naslund has probably already asked Sather to send him out. I remeber reading quotes from him complaining about the hard practice that Renny put them through after the Dallas debacle

I really think many of our guys should stay. Atleast to the end of the season. There are obvious cuts (Voros, Kalinin), but I don't think we are going to see the axe fall hard. Because technically (contracts) can't.

I want to see Prucha stay as well as Korpedo!

Torts is definately going to let Redden have it! OMG it gonna get ugly between those two!

Nick...

Gomez makes $7MM per season and is signed for 5 more seasons. He's a 50-70 point guy. If the cap comes down this season, and GMs feel that it will come down the following season, then Gomez stands to be making more than many, if not most, high-end UFAs to be. Why would someone with cap space want to risk that uncertainty? It's possible as stranger deals have happened, but I'd question any GM who would make such a move.

Yea, I definately hope he realizes what he has in players like Betts and Orr! Ofcourse we are not talking about future 50-60pointers, but solid; does what you want; gets the job done; with minimun to no mistake kind of guys!

Not sure.

People also act as if the new coach will pull new players out of his hat, like a magician.

You may be right.
I mention Phoenix mainly because of Maloney, possibly a deal for Roszival or Gomez is done more as a favor to Sather than anything else.
On that note I could also see one of those two going to the Blues, who like Phoenix have some money to spend and are obviously on good terms with Sather and the Rangers organization.

Girardi, Callahan, Mara, Sanguinetti, Del Zotto should all be fine with Coaches Tortorella and Pelino.
