News And Notes
Quote:
Vokoun stopped 115 of 118 shots this past week, giving up three to the Blackhawks. It was a pretty impressive week. As we told you earlier, he missed practice today because of the flu. He's questionable for tomorrow. It's time for Craig Anderson to get a start, but it's real tough to pull a goalie as hot as Vokoun is right now.
Sun-Sentinel: Will Panthers trade Jay Bouwmeester?
Miami Herald: Major test awaits Florida Panthers
George Richards' Blog, Your Source For Reliable, Early Panthers Info!

Red Hot Cat Of The Night Stephen Weiss, with 13 points in his last 13 games, leads the team in points, assists, and plus/minus.

Primary Target
Zdeno Chara, captain of the Boston Bruins. You see him crouching down in this picture because it's the only way he'll fit on your screen. Yes he's gigantic at 6'9" and a force to be reckoned with. Vincent Lecavalier knows all about that, doesn't he?

Nice job on the GDT.

This is going to be IMO our toughest game of the year to win given the circumstances. If we manage to even get a point, let alone two, I'll be thrilled. I'd love a win and if we're really going to climb up into the 4th spot potentially, this could be the breakthrough HUGE win to do it. Boston is pissed after their roadtrip, having lost to us and Tampa, and we just beat Boston and have had a few days off. They'll be ready, unlike last time, but we know we can beat them and hopefully can come out and execute. We've done well against them before in their building.

Big battles with some of the Bruins/Panthers fans on these boards the past couple of days. Love these back to back games.

This rivalry is just starting to heat up!

Well it looks like Vokoun is going to be a game time decision with the flu. I have confidence in Andy if he has to come in last minute. In fact, I would just give him the start tonight, and let Vokoun get a couple of more days rest. Remember, Andy set the record last season with back to back 1-0 SOs, and one of those two games was against the Bs, so hopefully he can bring that magic again tonight, if he plays.

Agreed that it's going to be tough. Agreed that Boston's going to come out with fire in their eyes. Agreed that we need the points. Agreed about negative-Nancy.

Yikes! But I still believe. I predict (you need to know that I'm really, really bad at predictions) that Boston comes out flaming--and that we rock, wobble, and hold. The longer this game stays even, the more difficult it's going to be for Boston. So 1-0 for the Cats.

By the way, I never want to miss an opportunity to say thanks for the GDT. Always great. It must take an enormous amount of time--so thanks.

This is a test, but a winnable game if they play well.

When are people going to stop with the test stuff? Are people really going to be that disappointed if we lose in Boston to a pissed off Bruins team? I would be happy with a single point, tonight.

Draft day will be another test. How do we perform in the first draft after we make the playoffs? It will truly define our team.

just to nitpick, ryder will be skating on the 2nd line with krejci and wheeler tonight.

great game the other night between these 2 clubs. hopefully this one ends better for me. id love to see the panthers make the playoffs (especially since it could mean the habs DO NOT), but tonight business is business so i gotta go with my beloved B's.

For some reason, I don't feel like boston will play a good match tonight. They're on a slump right now and it will continue for few more games

Panthers 4
Boston 2

From GR's blog.. "Tomas Vokun made it through practice, but Craig Anderson will start. Fourth line remains the same as Saturday, Nick Tarnasky in and Brett McLean out."

Another tough game tonight... GO CATS!!!!!

I don't know what's going to happen. I don't think its going to be as tight as it was on Saturday though. Not sure which way it will go...

I'm kind of glad that Anderson's getting to play again. I hope he stands on his head and steals the game. That would be too cool.

I hate to say it, but this game is on Anderson's shoulders. If he comes in and plays like that spectacular Anderson that we saw earlier this year and late last year, I think we win. If he doesn't, I think we lose. Just my opinion, no facts here just throwing out my opinion.

Not true at all. If Boston controls the play, I don't see Anderson being able to really do anything. They're a good enough team to really not give us a shot at winning if they're on their game.

There's always an absolute steal like Tivo pulled for us against the Canadiens last season, but that's asking a bit much if it comes down to it.

That's basically what I was predicting. Anderson has generally been amazing or "just ok". If the "just ok" side comes out today I don't think we'll win because Boston should play hard tonight after the two losses in Florida.

Well on the flip side I see it as entirely possibly that we hang with Boston and Andy's only called upon to make the more occasional big save. Boston's slump makes tonight a big question mark.

It's certainly possible, I'm just saying what I think will happen and that's Boston coming out flying tonight and hungry.
