I miss Lang

" And with no effort of his own, hes become only the second-oldest player on his team, 18 months younger than relative fossil and friend Mathieu Schneider, the newcomer and former Detroit Red Wings teammate who turns 40 in June. "

The thread title is pretty misleading...

`Lang back before playoffs?`

even though he clearly says 10+ weeks which would be more around the conference finals

Actually, the season ends April 11th, and on April 14th, it would make it 8 weeks from today. Usually, there's a 4-5 days break before the playoffs, so the tentative date for the beginning of the playoffs is around April 15th-16th. 10 weeks from today would make it April 30th, at about the same time the 1st round will end (as there is a high probability that a series will go to the 7th game). So if it does take him 10 weeks, he would be back for the begining of the second round. If it takes him less time than 10 weeks, he might be back for the first round, and vice-versa, if it takes him more than 10 weeks, then he might be able to come back for the conference finals.

Also, if you read the article well, it says that Habs protocol for rehab puts it at 10 to 14 weeks AFTER surgery, not after today. He had surgery on February 5th, 10 weeks would make it April 16th, just as the playoffs will begin, 12 weeks would make it for the start of the 2nd round, and 14 weeks would make it for the conference final. So the conference finals is the bleak forecast, not the optimistic one. Usually, this type of surgery takes 3 months to rehabilitate from, so that would be around 12 weeks, ready for the start of the 2nd round.

The injury he sustained was pretty deep, he has to have rehab, and re-consider his future. He has a long road ahead if he wants to play hockey again, torn achilles heel is not something to be taken lightly.

It wasn't torned... it was neatly cut, so it was said. Lang doesn't seem to think it will threaten his career, what's left of it anyway.

Unless he can comeback before the playoffs i don't think he would be very affective in the playoffs after 2 months of inactivity.

Ive had a great time here, said Lang, an unrestricted free agent come July 1. Theres nothing Id rather do (than return to Montreal). Its been a great experience great owner, coaches and guys on the team.
"Id definitely like to come back.

Really? C'mon Lang.

Can some posters here really be wrong about UFAs thinking this might be a decent place to play?

Or wrong in their impressions of how the coaches interact with the players?

Heaven forbid.
