This place is fun.
I actually highly value goalies. However, Halak has not proved much at the NHL level and I doubt a couple good starts will make him that much more desirable.

Yeah, let's trade the hot goalie.

Let's trade Pleks as well, he's having a hot streak, his value is going up! You aren't playing Dope Wars buddy. You do not trade who's hot amidst of a tight playoff race, especially when they're as key as Halak.

While I disagree with the premise of trading him....

See case Mathieu Garon. Despite the Voukon comparisons (which I assume are because he's from Eastern Europe), Halak is a carbon copy of Garon's situation during the Theodore days.

Ultimately, he was dealt, and for a very, very healthy return.

Heck, he was dealt again a few weeks ago for a decent return

Good, young goalies have plenty of value. Most teams do not really have someone they're prepared to hand their torch to in net. There's only a handful of upcoming star goalies.

I'm sending you a message in 15 minutes, if you have time to read other sites, you will see where my comments are coming from....

I have no sources, nothing is reliable of course, it's just internet rumours

I say trade him while he's hot BUT only if it helps us in a package for that superstar centre.

Denis has 7 wins in his last 8 including 2 SO's. i think he should be brought up.

To be fair, PJ Stock and Marinaro did discuss rumours today that Hamrlik was being shopped. But they both said they doubted they were true. It was in reference to Pronger rumours on TEAM 1200 in Ottawa.

Haha, I've wanted to use that sooo many times. And you're right, he's more important to keep. He has proven he can steal games, and he may be called on to do so again this year. LOL at the dopewars GMs on this board.

he's allowed 5 goals 9 times in 75 career starts. couldn't you come up with anything better than that?

Well, how about 5 or more goals in 5 of his last 11 starts (since christmas break)?

Those who are using numbers to prove anything regarding our goaltenders are in the left field.. Those numbers are directly related to the way our team have been playing in front of them, what is absolute crap...

When Halak feels the team is behind him and ready to fight, this young goaltender can be great, he proved it 2 years ago when Huet went down and still is proving it at the moment..

Even if you put god in net, if your team isnt ready to play, ready to fight, no goaltender in this league can do everything by themself!

We are lucky to have 2 of the best young goaltenders in the game, its time we start protecting them better and play better hockey in front of them.

Denis would get destroyed as an NHL starter.
Do you have any idea how slow this guy is?

On the OP I thought this thread was going to be offer Halak a contract extension which I know they can not yet but seriously goalies have virtually zero trade value and Halak has more value to the Habs right now then he will with any other team.

Umm... so, his play since returning from injury has inspired you to the point where you think it would be a good idea to trade Halak now? It was just a stat... it shouldn't have hurt you that bad. I trimmed all the sharp edges first.

If there's anything more childish than bringing stats to a discussion it's attacking the information provider when you don't like the stats.

Didn't you just post a link to hockeydb that compared Price's stats to Roy's? Grow up will ya!

i DON'T want to trade Halak, thats just nonsense. The Habs are a team, hockey is a team sport and I am a fan of the Habs. So dissing Price the way most people do here is very disappointing. So playing devils advocate i just defend the underdog as usual. I have no more like for Price than i do for Jaro. I just get upset when people diss Price who is just 21 years old and in his 2nd NHL season. This board ia always about what have you done for me lately. At the beginning of the year when CP was helping us win, most of these bashers were saying how good he is and will be our next P Roy. Now he is in a slump he is TRASH. It's quite simple when you think about it. This mentality of WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR ME LATELY crap is for bandwaggoners.

Halak is the next Kiprusoff.
Keep Jaro, trade Price while he's still worth something.

You spend much of your life attacking anyone who suggests Halak is deserving of starts, is playing a better recent string of games than Price or suggests Price has lost default number 1 status because of his recent play. That doesn't jive with your "I just get upset when people diss Price" backtracking BS.

If Halak had crapped the bed last night you'd be on the board full force with something other than the post above.

Funny I haven't read anyone call Price "Trash", maybe that's just an eyes-to-brain interface error that occurs with you when someone mentions that Price has given up 5 or more goals too many times since the Xmas break, or shows a valid comparison of winning or save pct.

Face it, your assertion that everyone else needs to grow up is a projection of your own needs.
