I guess this is what you do when your hands are tied (self imposed) in relation to the cap.
There's pretty much no risk whatsoever in doing this so I don't think I'd even bother using the head shaking smiley.

How many failed pet projects will Sather have before he realizes its more a risk than a reward?

Play slipping the past two seasons? No problem... heres 6.5 a year..

In the substance abuse program? No problem, NYC is the best remedy for that... come on board.

Fans boo you out of town? No worries, take a spot on our blueline...

WTF??

IM really getting sick of Sather and these "hope he gets back to form" projects.

Enough already.

I have to question the prudence of this move when Slats is trying to open up cap space for the deadline. bell scored 21 and 25 goals in 03-04 and 05-06 for chicago, his last good years.

Well he might be an slight upgrade over Voros, so hopefully that means he's the odd man out...

Anyways Bell's scouting report;

Quote:
ASSETS: Is most effective when playing a very physical style. Has two-way ability and some offensive upside. Owns the versatility to play all forward positions.

FLAWS: Was expected to put up bigger numbers. A lack of consistent play are at the root of Bell's problems. Also lacks discipline, on and off the ice.

CAREER POTENTIAL: Top six forward.

What options does he really have?

Um he can hit, did a number on Alfredsson. Don't see much more in the guy. Maybe we can bring the best out of him haha!

his cap hit is negligible and I doubt that has the slightest effect on how Sather approaches the trade deadline.

Or really any trade that might send away more players than it brings back. I think that was Toronto had in mind when they recalled him.

You know what this team needs....more 3rd and 4th line players. A less lucid version of Voros, good times.

If he can skate from his own zone to the other goal without getting knocked down or beat up, then he should be okay.

This would make the most sense to me, and especially with the constant word of some sort of move happening you would have to think we are going to make a move of a few players for someone who can score (please, pretty please).

If he's the guy that gets Voros off the roster, it's all fine and dandy to me.

I just don't see why this move was ever made. I think it's a waste of time...he's not the player he was a few years ago and I don't think he is better than anyone on the roster right now for what his role would be.

Of course, by me saying this you know he's going to score five goals in his first three games.

Wild thought:

The Rangers make a trade today and need a roster player. The Rangers are in Toronto. So is Bell...

He might have some he might have none, i dont care. The point is hes always the one to give everyone second chances. He should sign Jimmy Leyritz and Doc Gooden while hes at it.

IM just sick of his humanitarian work, fill out a ****ing normal roster.

I don't think it has anything to do with being a humanitarian.

That would require being human.

Eh... don't know much about him. Can't really see a risk, especially if he's here to replace Voros. Maybe Tortorella can get some goals out of him

Gotta wonder if, after seeing all the soft midgets we throw out on the first three lines, this was a move requested by TORTS to start addressing our total lack of size and agression

That being said, he is nothing but a 3rd-4th liner and will offer physical competion for schmoes like Orr, Sjostrom, Voros, Prucha...

Don't see Voros going anywhere with his salary and years, so one of the munchkins I'm sure will be gone soon (Dawes, Prucha) at the least..
