Cmon Nate atleast be logical. You knwo as well as i do that he was on the bench and you think that he was going to jump over the boards and put a beat down on D Tucker ? give your head shake.

People don't understand the role of an enforcer in Montreal because they haven't had one in so long.
The day they drop the instigating penalty, the role of the enforcer became less important. Laraque keeps telling us that he can't jump on anybody so he'd get a penalty, he keeps mentioning that he's not going to fight guys that aren't the toughest guy on the other team 'cause nobody want to fight him. His role, the way he sees it now, is to give a sideshow to the fan. Seems that his presence alone would make the opponent feel much smaller, well we saw tons of things happening despite him being in the lineup. But then some decided to focus on the fact that Neil and Peters were much more quiet. But then even Peters doesn't get his regular shift, and Neil well might be what we need. A guy that can defend his teamates and play hockey, something Laraque doesn't know how to.

I guess what we needed is NOT the champion of the world but mostly the #1 contender. The guys that still have something to proove, guys that can play hockey like Carcillo and Boll, or one of my favorite guy I keep asking (but I think he's hurt) T.J King in St-Louis, that could take the biggest guys out there and would play a much bigger role against guys like Ruutu and those types of guys that know that Laraque won't do a thing about them but would not be as sure with the other guys I've named.

If you can't take the smaller guys and see that Ruutu tries to injure your goalie, well even if you can't beat him up, well you charge the opponent's goalie as well. But that's not what Laraque is all about. He's there for the sideshow, a sideshow that is absolutely irrelevant to the outcome of the game.

Did you REALLY not know that before he signed this summer?

Did you REALLY think he was some speed demon before he signed this summer?

Waivers. He and Begin. Keep Stewart up. If you need an extra body, bring up...Yannick Lehoux or something.

Laraque have such a Rockstar attitude.
Condescending each time he is with the medias.
Think that only his "presence" can change thing.
Think he can play hockey.
His stupid "code" make me sick.
Ship him to Edm asap.

Well, I look at a guy like Brashear in Washington, and he's a very good hockey player! He has some hands and can fight...

I mean, I would prefer a guy like Neil on our team. No the best fighter...but he has skills and can intimidate.

That's his problem. He does NOTHING else. Again, I don't want him to jump anybody, unless it's a case where one of our guys got a flying elbow (like Gorges). In that case, I would love to see him to ape on a guy, but you'd never see that because BGL doesn't want to take a penalty? Please.

Wow, I never realized how upset I was at BGL until I started writing all this stuff.

Anyway, I want him to be a presence and push people around during scrums. That's all I would want from him, and he doesn't even do that!

I remember hearing an interview with BGL before the season started. He spoke of an occasion when Pittsburgh played against us and he said that he threw an elbow at Bouillon's head and nobody stood up to him so he felt that he could get away with anything.

So I ask you this...WHERE DID THIS TYPE OF HOCKEY PLAYER GO?!?!?!

this is what happens when a 4th line enforcer comes to Montreal and is hyped as a saviour of a hockey team.

this is the fans fault.

If we would have known, his play was that poor, we would not have signed him here either.

It's not the coach's fault if Laraque is useless.

Please...you guys don't want an enforcer, you guys want a freakin' Gladiator who comes in and does his best impression of Jeff Kugel (youtube it) the minute one of his teamates gets hit.

I'll knock Laraque for not showing up in the best shape this year, he should of known what type of team the Habs had heading into the season and if he's not playing, it's got more to do with his conditionning than anything else...but i'm not going to knock him because he doesn't fight and Habs fans have an unrealistic view of what an enforcer is supposed to do

Don't blame the fans for expecting something else than a 1.5m mascot.

Laraque should hit people, he should crowd the net, he should play gritty. He doesn't do any of that and that's why he is a faliure.

at least someone's got it

The Habs signed him this summer and immediately, on talk shows, message boards, etc, the feeling was that "Finally, the smallish Habs would not be intimidated anymore".

Well you know what, not being intimidated is not the sole responsibility of one player, it's about team toughness and identity and Laraque can't force Brisebois to grown some testies, Laraque can't force Lapierre to drop the gloves once in a while, etc, etc...
